The Bible of today or the way it was written? Do we include the books that were intentionally left out? Do we include the Apocrypha? These are important questions.

Need to know what translation we're using, as well, I'd think.

This isn't a 'trick' or 'gotcha' question. Our existing laws would be replaced by the rules and laws of The Bible. Pretty simple to understand.

Its really simple to understand you are an idiot to even suggest such a thing.

the lowest dreg of society has more morality than found in the bible.

For the purposes of the OP's exercise, we'd have to go with the AV1611, right?

No. The Laws of the OT are null and void because of the sacrifice and resurrection of The Messiah. Why would we want to enact laws whose burden God has already freed us from? You ask us if we want to have laws that don't even exist? What an idiot.

Jesus instructed on how to discipline and manage slaves. Paul instructed slaves to obey masters.

In no way, shape or form is it moral to think you own another person, so dont come back with 'it was different times' bullshite either.

Im more moral than Jesus and the God of the New Testament. cracks me up how you people cherry pick shite.

How incredibly convenient it must be to pick and choose what parts of the Bible to follow.

Why would any Christian follow Old Testament Law aside from the Ten Commandments? The OT is only a history book to me. None of the laws that were established in the Torah, aside from the Ten Commandments, have any bearing on the life of a Christian. Your argument makes no logical sense.

Do you know that this would exclude the Old Testament laws that were fulfilled by the sacrifice of Christ, right?

I mean, surely you knew that.

I mean I expect you wouldn't pull out Laws from. . .say Leviticus (which only applied to a small subsect of Hebrews, anyway) right?

Surely not.

This OP has all the making of a rigorous Biblical scholar.

And a scholar would understand that all law is fulfilled in the New Testament.

I am a devoted Christian, but I am in no way in favor of Christian law as law of the land.

But of all real monotheistic religions, Christian law would be preferable to alternatives (Judaism and Islam)

Let's judge all historical periods by modern morality.

That's honest.

Liar.

Paul made the point that slavery and servitude existed in the world. He did not condone slavery. He taught that slaves/servants, in their State of bondage, could set a good example of loving obedience to their master as God expected all of his creation to have a loving obedience to him. He even went on to teach that they should even show a greater love and obedience to a Christian master. He also taught that the master should have a loving and kind relation to the servant as God would have a loving relation to his servant.

Jesus used the master/slave relationship in parables. He used the analogy of a servant being striped by a master as a parable to illustrate Gods wrath against a servant who is disobedient and revolts against him.

You should be smart enough to discern this stuff yourself.

He tried to apply modern society's morality to an era 2 millenia ago.

I mean, his sig may as well be "I am Cruiserhog. I am the definition of intellectual dishonesty. Immediately discount anything I utter." for the sake of honest disclaimer.

Go with the Coptic version.

I read the Mary Magdalene version. Peculiar.

lets use ancient mythology/fiction as moral guides, or better yet, like suggested by this thread, as legal guides, thats stupid.

Whether you like it or not, the morality and customs of the western world are heavily shaped by the political reading of the bible/christian teachings.

Our systems of law is borrowed from english common law, which itself was shaped by certain biblical teachings.
