Cigarettes aren't that different. Cause chronic disease and early death through accumulative insult. Do you realize the risks obesity pose? Especially when the onset occurs during childhood?

You might educate yourself on how risky the daily consumption of sugary beverages really is. LINK

I'm sure plenty of folks felt similarly when the public opinion on cigarettes began to change.

You do realize that many of these deals and similar ones allow beverage companies to put soda machines on campuses?

So school districts are too fricking stupid we need a fed regulation to ban signs?

Petroleum is a known carcinogen.

Shell, Exxon, BP, Chevron should not be able to advertise because they are killing children with their product.

Living in place X has risks. Driving a car has risks. Eating salad has risks. Drinking milk has risks. Drinking water has risks. There is risk everywhere. You should educate yourself on the risks of excercising!

LINK

I drink sugary drinks, my kids drink sugary drinks, we are not obese.

Take away the sugary drinks and fat kids will still be fat. What are you having trouble following?

Interestingly a new report from the Fed, headed up by the CDC, has reported a 43% decline in childhood obesity over the last decade.

Every one of these are regulated at the federal level to some degree for public safety. I'm happy that your family isn't obese, but if you read any of the information in that link you should understand that the consumption of sugary drinks poses a serious health risk for a significant number of children. Is it really a big deal to not have soda available on school property? Is having a scoreboard more important than child health? Can you not raise the money a different way?

Can you please tell me why there should be junk food ads in schools?

Schools should not be condoning such irresponsible behavior. All these little fat-arse kids get enough exposure to junk foods from their fat-arse parents.

A Coke sign on a scoreboard pales in comparison to the ads these kids see on their smartphones and computers all day. Coke and McDonald's signs have been on scoreboards for decades and there's no correlation that that particular piece of advertising has ever contributed to the obesity of a child.

How is this condoning a certain behavior?

Are there any companies that have the moral high ground to advertise in a school?

Maybe parents should take responsibility for their kids rather than rely on the Government to do it.

I went to a private school in the Ms Delta, one of the most obese areas in the country, and we had coke ads, and a cafeteria that served burgers, fried chicken, fries, chicken sandwiches, pizza sticks, etc. every day. My graduating class of 47 had 2 obese people that i can think of.

Yet the public school, who had more healthy food available than we did, was full of obese people. Now why do you think that is? It's because the fricking parents bought junk and fast food for their kids constantly.

Go back to the 1950s when more people smoked and everyone drank coke...and there were ads for it everywhere... there were less health issues then than there are now. It's because somewhere along the way people stopped

1. Working or exercising as hard
2. Stopped preparing their own meals with better ingredients and started eating more frozen processed food or fast food, which is full of additives, preservatives and hormones that are terrible for you.
