The Bible kind of tells you that there's a fermament that separates the waters from above from the waters from below. That earth doesn't move and is on pillars. The book of Enoch says that the sun and the moon revolves around earth not the other way around. NASA says earth is spinning at 1000 miles per hour, moving around the sun at 66,000 miles per hour and moving through space at over 500,000 miles per hour. A bullet is a couple of thousand miles per hour and you can't see it at all . So basically we are spinning half that fast , moving around the sun 30 times faster than a bullet and moving through space 250 times as fast as a bullet. Kinda hard to believe that when I walk outside and look at nature.
All that movement and gravity supposedly keeps billions of gallons of water from spinning off of earth. But it can't keep a butterfly from flying anywhere it wants. NASA spends 52 million dollars a day but yet it's the only technology that has devolved from year to year. We went to the moon in the late 60s on the first attempt and somehow lost the technology and can't get back there since . Every country in the world has a treaty that agree to not let you go to Antarctica until 2040 it's the only thing in history that every country agree on even countries at war. Every space agency has a forked tongue through their logo. Von Braun started NASA after coming over from Germany in the 50s and when he died he had psalms 19.1 ( the heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament showeth his handy work).

Ive been in this spherical earth for over 50 years and I've never met anyone who thinks the earth is flat. i think this is a classic straw man meant to make people who think outside the box, aka conspiracy theorists, seem retarded.

This is an old thread but I am upset I missed it. There were some great posts showing ancient Israelite cosmology with great scripture references and one of the scriptures (psalm 19) missed was later posted by another poster. It even had Foo proclaiming his own hypocrisy.
Why do some people believe the earth is flat?
There’s no evidence to support that claim, and the overwhelming preponderance of evidence is that the earth is nearly a sphere, and there’s no firmament, and that ancient Israelite biblical cosmology is completely wrong.
But some people believe it because the Bible says the earth is flat. The most fundamentalist Christians believe the Bible is the inerrant word of an all knowing deity. They have hypnotized themselves to reject verifiable reality in favor of believing in myths and fantasy. The technical term is “cognitive dissonance”.
The Bible authors believed in a flat earth with a solid dome above the earth strong enough to hold back an ocean above the dome from flooding the earth. They believe that sun moon and stars are within, inside of, or under the firmament.
The Bible uses the Hebrew word “raqia” as a noun based on the verb “raqa” which means to beat out stamp out as in the context of metal working. And the Bible says the name of this “raqia” (the firmament) is “shamayim” (heaven) which is a form of “mayim” (waters).
Why do some Christians NOT believe in the flat earth and firmament and biblical cosmology?
They have renegotiated the meaning of the Bible. They don’t believe it literally and they interpret the many passages about the flat earth as allegory and take them all out of their original context.
That’s how you can have hypocrites like Foo that state they believe in the univocal voice of the Bible and believe it’s the inerrant word of their deity (not the Bible even infers there’s only one deity - again that is something they renegotiate so that they can believe something the scripture doesn’t say) without actually believing in everything the biblical authors believed and in everything “the Bible” teaches.

Lolololo but true. Antarctica is more than ice. An entire continent once green with life covered in ice. Fun facts. There are lots of lakes under the ice with life. And it rarely snows. If it does it's almost there permanently.
The lack of access leads to anything one can conjour. Imagine a large upside down metal piston 8 feet across heated and with water hoses to the surface . Lowered like a hot knife through butter down to surface of the continent. The walls would quickly refreeze. I wonder how long it would last. What could they find?

What I posted can be construed as nonsense (as in the flat earth and firmament) but it is not nonsense that those topics are taught in the Bible as fact and that the biblical authors believed it.
