Former Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) said Monday on CNN’s “Newsroom” that the Republican Party has no future if it continues to allow “Trumpism.”

Flake said, “There is certainly no future with Trumpism. It is a demographic cul-de-sac. I think most people, most elected officials, nearly all of them recognize that, but they deal with the reality right now if they cross the president, they’ll get a primary. I think that is waning quickly. I think the president will fade away a lot faster than he wants to, but that is been the reality.”

He added, “There is no future with Trumpism. There is no coherent governing philosophy. It’s more of an attitude than a philosophy. And in just look, since President Trump was elected, we lost the House, we’ve lost the Senate, we lost the White House, and in the midterms, we lost more than 400 legislative seats nationwide. I don’t know how much more winning we could stand as a Republican Party. So we’ve got to go a different direction.”

Let me guess - the new direction involves “reaching across the aisle” and compromise with the Left?

He’s right.

There’s no real path for gop.

There’s no path for trumpism in gop.

New party needed.

I would imagine embracing amnesty, social justice movements, and other initiatives that are actually corporate favored policies under the guise of compassion.

Then never ending wars in the middle east.

Good luck with getting back to the old uniparty games.

He's welcome to his opinion, but

quote:

“There is no coherent governing philosophy.

Is factually incorrect. "America First" was absolutely a governing philosophy that drove policy and agenda.

I hope they keep "winning" like they are.

TRUMP holds the key to controlling the Republican Party now......if he starts another "Patrioit Party" the REPs will NEVER win again, and DJT knows that all to well.

Gonna be very interesting.....

Flake apparently didn't notice that "Trumpism" has higher approval with blacks and Latinos than GOPe candidates.

That's the problem with politicians. They're focused only on getting elected and reelected. Not on actually doing anything to benefit constituents.

And this is why the GOP as a party cannot be reformed...

I’m wondering how many people have the force of personality to run like that?

The problem with fighting the establishment is all they have to do is hold their position. That's all they really want is to maintain the status quo. Trump's approval with blacks and latinos screws the status quo and upsets their game.
