I have eaten at several of those through the years...very sad.
So have we - my wife and I. She will be bummed when I get her to watch this with me. Some of our favorite times.

But that's progressives at work...everything they touch turns to shite.
Haven't visited SF since the homeless problem started growing out of control, people urinating and defecating in the streets and alleys. More than a quarter century now. Wow, when I think of the change.
Many of our progressives here told us this wasn't really a 'thing' in San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. They are now just glad their comments were so long ago, none will call them out on it.

Soon to be Heroin Injectors Wharf
This. We were in Seattle in 2022. Stayed a couple of blocks from Pike's Market at a Marriot. You had to step over the heroine addicts on the sidewalk to get down the street. The Mrs. went to the Nordstroms...which had armed guards at the entry to keep the bums out of the place. Same story at Nike. The leftists have absolutely ruined these once beautiful cities.

Wow. Fisherman's Grotto 9 gone. I ate there when I last went in '98. What a shame. Was a beautiful city and now it has fallen and the Marxist left has claimed another city. It's crazy how these people vote for their own destruction.

I don't know about the other places, but Alioto's closed during the pandemic and never reopened (officially backing out of the space in 2022).

According to the San Francisco Business Times, the restaurant was shuttered in March 2020, and never reopened. During that time, it never paid rent on that space, or on its "support warehouse," and its owners have since decided to end its 66-year-lease with the Port of San Francisco a little over 14 years early. (Don't do the math in your head: Alioto's signed the lease in 1970.) It is also ending its lease on its warehouse.

Who the hell wants to reopen there?
Think customers want wade through a sea of filth to get to a restaurant?

Diversity is their strength and nothing is more diverse than allowing homeless addicts and drug dealers to take over your streets.

At least Scoma's is still alive and well.

I'm onboard until the way he says "GONE!"
And if it was just once or twice - sure. But he kept saying it. And for that reason, I'm out.

Impossible. It wasn't very long ago one of the resident PT libs was claiming that news of San Francisco's demise were greatly exaggerated. We were a bunch of redneck rubes but he actually traveled to San Fran several times s year and walked around the city with his children regularly. Place had never been better. I wish I could remember which douche that was...
yep, that was in stout's real estate collapse thread and i mentioned how shitty SF is now and they were like NUH UH ITS BETTER THAN EVER

That was sort of the family tourist trap area of town.
Nobody is taking family trips to San Francisco anymore.

I used to commute from Pleasanton to San Francisco for work 22 years ago, and at that time the Fisherman's Wharf and Bayfront Park was a fantastic experience.
It's a shame it looks like downtown Detroit now.

Explain your reasoning how corporate greed played into this.
Or could there be other factors at work in a city where lawlessness is acceptable?
