Fellow Alabamians. Was it just me, or was voter turnout ludicrously high?

Last year for the presidential election, my voting area only had 60% voter turnout. The first special election this summer it was only 18%, and the runoff had a measly 14% with less than 200 total voters.
Today it was 95%. The line of people that reached the parking lot, and how many cars had to park in the middle of the street because the parking lot was full, was fricking insane.
I talked to the sheriff's deputy who was standing outside, and he said the 4 other polling stations he had been at today had the same thing going on. He also implied there was some funny business going on, involving cash, to get a certain demographic motivated to vote.
I'm not sure I agree with his assessment. I think it's possible they realized how close the election might be, and they were motivated by the opportunity to win back a democratic seat.
Regardless of motivation method, the black voter turnout was absolutely remarkable.

When the white liberals are motivated, they can turn out the whole plantation.

Voter fraud will be uncovered. It's how D's win anything, especially in a red state like Alabama.

He should file a report about it.

A lot of people don’t like Moore. The baptists are enough to get people like Moore the nomination, but it comes at a cost. It energizes opposition and sours the moderates within the party, who either don’t turn out or vote for the other guy. The Cullman types were the architects of their own loss.

I voted absentee, but from family reports the turnout at ours on highway 280 was incredibly high. Normally that would be good for a republican, but people really hate Roy Moore. I'm from a very conservative district and I expect Jones to carry it easily.

He's a pedophile. I think that's a pretty good way to win things

I fricking despise the man. All he has ever done is use this state to gain notoriety, and milk it's citizens for cash. He is not even close to a true Christian, and anyone who claims he is a Godly man is blind to the truth of Christ. I say that as a youth pastor, who is the son of a pastor, and as one who has studied theology for years. He is a blight this state has allowed to fester for far too long. Let me rephrase, he is a blight that the cancerous "Christian-Right" has protected for far too long. The blasphemic American version of Christianity, is about on par with Jehovah's Witnesses in how much truthfulness it contains.
All of that being said, Had to hold my nose, plug my ears, ducktape my mouth, and cover my eyes to vote for him today. I was hoping beyond hope that the senate would refuse to seat him, and the governor could appoint someone in his place.
If we had simply elected Luther Strange or Mo Brooks in the special election, we wouldn't be here right now.

Is god gonna forgive you for voting for a pedophile?

Would he forgive me for voting for one who supports murder?

Abortion isn't murder, but go off
Posted on 12/12/17 at 9:45 pm to VaBamaMan
Increased busing will do that.

Alabamans have no problem with a lil diddlin.

Turn out was very high in Madison, Jefferson, Montgomery, Mobile, Baldwin.
4/5 are Jones counties.

Wrong Colonel Sanders Abortion is murder. Abort means to terminate. The termination of life is murder.

By definition, abortion means removing a fetus before it can survive outside the uterus.
If a woman miscarries does that count as murder too?

3.3 million registered voters in Alabama. 1.25 million votes cast....and counting
38% turnout?
I grew up and still lean republican, but claim to be independent. Voted for Jones and didn't feel one bit of remorse about it. Roy Moore is Hillary Clinton level bad.

When you run a bigot on the level of Moore, it spurs a lot people to vote who normally otherwise wouldn't GAF.
