There once was a time - not so long ago - where children were allowed to be children and enjoy the pure excitement of learning things for themselves.

I was 8 years old when FDR died and I barely knew who he was - I had listened in on a couple of his radio addresses - my very first memory centered around attack on Pearl Harbor - but only because if was such a momentous event that caused my family to be in an uproar that I could not comprehend as a 3 yr old.

My only memory of the HST administration was hearing the old folks talk about the '48 election. The end of the war was a big joyous event but there was no political assertions made about it.

My first exposure to the concept of 'politics' came in the aftermath of the JFK election were people were alleging "dirty tricks' in the Illinois/Texas voting.

SO - I was 22 years old before becoming aware of the dirty side of politics.

Now we have children in "women's marches' advocating for more abortions and kids wearing "frick trump' t-shirts.

I grew up in a sane world.
