Throngs of “independent” and “undecided” voters are not flocking to Trump rallies. These are people who are already Trump supporters. Attendance at rallies is not indicative of the overall voting public.
And the media is reporting on the rallies, that Trump fills his speeches with insults and conspiracy theories instead of sticking to the economy and policy. He also hasn’t helped himself by sharing “fake news” stories about AI generated crowds for Harris or his helicopter crash with “Willie Brown” where he “bad mouthed Kamala in his dying declaration”. Focusing on Kamala’s “blackness” and Walz military record are going to be losing issues outside the “base”.
I still say that there are lots of ebbs and flows in campaigns. Trump was riding high after Biden’s debate disaster, the assassination attempt and the convention. But he made a mistake in picking Vance, and then was dealt a huge blow when old man Biden dropped out - opening up the big news cycle boost for Kamala.
There is still a lot of time left, but I would say that he hasn’t blunted her momentum, it’s just slowed as part of the natural news cycle and it will bump again after the convention.
How he reacts after that - pointing out her lack of her own accomplishments and trying her to Bide, staying on message, pointing out that she choose to pick a liberal VP instead of going moderate as reflective of where she wants to go…that’s his way forward.

I'm beginning to look at it a different (and, I believe, more accurate) way. Those 24 years of "service" were obviously little more than 24 years of collecting another government pay check with no intentions of fulfilling the duties and obligations of that position.

The official race for the Trump campaign begins the day after the DNC. They have purposely not spent that much money yet.
They are going to relentlessly "Shock and Awe" Harris and the entire democrat party after the DNC. It's going to be so relentless that it will make her and her supporters want to quit. It's going to be amazing to watch.
She will get another Sugar High after the DNC - She will get a bump in the polls (The Trump campaign is well aware of this) - then a week or two after the sugar high, they unload. The Trump campaign is filled with Alphas and winners - they will do everything they can to expose this fraud woman and they will not stop until her and her campaign starts waving the white flag. That campaign and entire party is about to have a very brutal stretch.
I believe you are accurate. The DNC can't come and go fast enough, then the fireworks will begin. I think Trump is also waiting another few weeks until he gets the benefit of recency bias. If they hammer Kamala on everything too early, people will forget about the policy failures. Get it in heavy and hard close to the election and it will be fresh on everyone's minds in the ballot box.
The left has a way of changing tactics successfully. They historically have caught republicans off guard and unprepared. I'm very hopeful Trump is pulling their same stunt against them but time will tell.

The Dems know that Kamala cannot beat Trump. It's the down ballots they are scared to death of losing. Trump and his team knows this.

I question how much actual "momentum" Harris picked up......

It didn’t feel to me like she ever really had momentum. Media just trying hard to pick her up and ignite something.

Honeymoon is over and a lot more polls are favoring Trump. Kamala “chicken shite” Harris will get another boost after the democratic convention that will last about 2 weeks. After that, Trump will win in a landslide.

I don’t think the Democrats are relying on “Kamala beating Trump” as much as they are relying on “Not Trump” beating Trump. It’s a referendum on him.
The key is having someone who simply appears viable as an alternative,
which Biden no longer was due to his age - which would have kept people from turning out.

August is Kamala's especially with the convention.
This tide will begin to retreat in September and October.
