I think the point is that the disease it targets hasn’t been around but for a few months, which is why the “it’s been around for 50-70 years” argument is immaterial.
You don’t know how it will react.

The warning is about the side effects which are already known. Their opinion as to whether it’s effective or not for Corona isn’t very relevant.

It's a pretty strange if not bizarre declaration from the FDA considering over the 60 year availability of the drug millions if not billions of doses have been taken by millions of people around the world........hmm.

People actually use this drug for approved and well-established medical uses. There was basically a run on this drug because a flim-flam man hyped the work of this dude:
