He's making a terrible argument and I already did this last year.

Cities not reporting data to the FBI doesn't mean that the data is bad or would reverse the trend.

An all-time bad take

Just as the great crime decrease spanned the Clinton, GWB, Obama, and Trump 1 admins. This is non-partisan stuff,

however, the very partisan news spews that its GOING DOWN, and its not, data correction be damned, and a R POTUS is taking charge, so their WRONG talking points are being yelled even louder, and more incorrect.

don't play naive, you know the message being sent is not a true message. don't play lawyer either.

But I was told, you can't hide murders. Imagine the stats if the big cities were honest

It was easy under Biden, guy had a gunshot to the head, body tests positive for COVID.

Died from COVID on the report….

So the city data is reliable......

2022 City-level data

quote:

Index crime in New York State increased (+22%) in 2022
compared to 2021, with 421,322 Index crimes reported.
The increase was driven by a 25 percent increase in all
three property crimes and increases in the violent crimes
of robbery (+25%) and aggravated assault (+9%). Murder
(-11%) and rape (-4%) both decreased.

The state’s Index crime rate declined by 3 percent
when comparing 2013 and 2022. During the same time
period, the violent crime rate increased 11 percent and
New York State experienced a 36 percent increase in
firearm-related homicides when comparing 2013 to 2022
(See page 4 for additional details). This significant
increase mirrored trends that occurred nationally.

In New York, the law enforcement agency with the largest jurisdiction that did not report 12 months of crime data to the FBI is the New York City Police Department,

2024 City-level data

quote:

New York City Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch today announced that 2024 concluded with a nearly 3% reduction in overall index crime, which equates to 3,662 fewer incidents and thousands of fewer victims of violence and disorder across the five boroughs. The index crime categories of murder, robbery, burglary, grand larceny, and grand larceny—auto each saw sizable reductions across New York City in 2024, led, in part, by hefty drops during the month of December in five of the seven major crime categories. Overall index crime in December, compared to the same month in 2023, decreased by 15.5%, the largest one-month decrease since February 2021.

The NYPD’s laser-like focus on criminals who use illegal guns drove significant declines for the third straight year in both the number of shooting incidents—which were down 7.3%, or 71 incidents—and the number of shooting victims—which were down 4.2%, or 48 victims.

So what is your specific point?

It is, though.

It wasn't in 2022, but it is now. That trend started at some point in 2023.

Your post was the first thing I thought of when the recent revelations of 'cooking the books' was made.

Everyone should know this and confront Democrat leadership (especially mayors) with this knowledge and ask them why?

Remember, it's like inflation numbers for the past 4 years.... 'everyone... don't believe your eyes, or your pocketbooks'.

PS - Thank you for your service

As I’m very aware of how criminal activity is is purposely being misrepresented such as assault with a deadly weapon to simple battery or robbery to a 3 class misdemeanor the amount of crimes not reported at all is very high. A report may be done but nothing will be pursued if assailants aren’t known outright therefore it will not become part of a statistical report. A couple years back the N O police were not getting anywhere on a local gang activity so basically unless someone was shot or seriously injured it wasn’t a big deal to that district. Some feds jumped in a did wiretaps, surveillances which led to a sting operation and when they busted up the activity it was also shown to have relatives of people between cops and criminals. While no outright charges on cops were made initially it was shown that cops looking the other way and ignoring reporting was done. That was one investigation on one group in one area of the country, you can just assume that this is not a irregular occurrence but rather the norm

The funniest part of mis-using that meme is you're literally arguing for promoting incorrect statements/conclusions instead of correct ones
