Not for LE use. nope.
Did you not see the thread this week about a cold case getting closed due to using DNA mapping from (23 & me) type company to find the killer?

Really? You will have to point out "every time"... I have called I believe two people in this thread that... The two main ones that typically rail about bullshite like this...
Did it hit close to home for you?

I can foresee a whole lot of good coming from a DNA database especially for organ transplant lists.
Another angle for certain, but in regards to LE use this will solve many more unsolved cases.
DNA samples are noninvasive, so can someone please tell me what's the negative in having this? Realistic negatives now, so don't throw nonsense such as "they can plant your DNA at crime scenes"

Nope. I just didn’t understand the need for someone to so loudly and so vociferously yell that there is nothing to worry about, the gov will never abuse the use of this DNA database

Educate yourself putz... I posted several links in this thread that prove this law and the article Jdoc posted DO NOT do what he claims they do...
Most DNA collection laws were passed by States circa 2011/2012 and the Federal Law was passed 2012ish...
So, continue your joust with windmills... You have been hooked by Jdoc...

How can this be abused? In what ways can this be used against anyone? Serious question, because I don't see any reasonable way but am open to having my mind changed.

No, you can't comprehend what you are reading. The article does NOT state anything factually wrong, and you CAN NOT point it out.

Not for a FBI Data base nor local data base.

Uh, yes you have... but hey, I don't know why anyone would expect a right to privacy when they are giving their DNA to 23 and Me or some other DNA site...

Because it's my right to not have it take place.
the 4th and all!
I don't need to go past that point. That should be enough. Anything else is police state shite.

hi, this is Rajma Rajmajannisivam, you may call me Steve, I am with the Department of US Health. We notice that you are a match for a person in New York who needs a kidney and our records indicate that you still have 2 kidneys. We will be there to collect your extra kidney on Friday, March 1. What is a good time for you?

Considering what we just witnessed with the election and the IC..
Yeah... no worries.

quote:Huge difference. Picture and fingerprints only identify you, they don't inform others as to whether you have a propensity for mental illness, cancer, Alzheimer's, or violence. Imagine what can be done with that info and who would pay a crooked bureaucrat to get it?
And I don't see what the big deal is with taking a dna sample upon a lawful arrest. It is no different than a fingerprint or photograph

I’m not talking about this individual law. All I’m saying is that it’s right and proper to look at data collection by the government with a skeptical eye.
Midget:
I don’t know how. And I highly doubt it gets abused immediately. But years from now when it is completely common place for the gov to have everyone’s DNA on file, this could be used to deny rights or services to someone.
I’m not going to try and imagine what because apparently envisioning the government acting in anything but a magnanimous fashion makes me a senile knight from renaissance era Spain imagining monsters.
