Doesn’t matter...is it illegal? If so, prison. Violation of FBI protocol...fired

I wouldn’t be surprised if more than one poor SOB is murdered in Chicago, or for that fact- New Orleans, today.

BUT, that doesn’t make it acceptable.

Not illegal, just unethical. I remember a few years ago when NYPD changed their policy to where officers couldn't accept freebies from patrons any more and quite a few cops were pissed because free meals , for example, adds up over a year to help stretch a salary, and those officers were only following a tradition that had been ongoing for a couple hundred years and most of it was just benign restaurant owners showing appreciation for law enforcement type stuff, but the optics were bad so NYPD said "nope can't do it any more" This may have changed again since then, but at the time it was a national story.

I trust your knowledge; you've been involved in the military IC, right? There really aren't any statutes regarding 'impermissible benefits' to federal officers? Genuine question.

These are the same people who prosecuted the Governor of VA for doing the exact same thing that corrupted FBI and DOJ officials were doing.

Have you actually looked at it? The summary on the first page is not accurate of the rest of the report. There's some pretty damning text messages in there

The good news is the OIG will follow up on the bribes in a separate report. Read the last sentence.

Unfortunately, as you learned during the election, the only thing that really matters is the final summary.

Bribery on both ends is big enough. Particularly with the receiver. Even offering an officer/agent is a crime and accepting one is way out of bounds. Careers and likely other punishment is on the way. Collusion (You guys outta love that if it is a crime), conspiracy and obstruction of justice are also in play!
