I keep seeing threads about Amazon and claims they caved when they came out 2 hours ago and said it was fake news right when the story broke. Stop falling for fake news.

This report came over 2 hours ago but we still have threads popping up and acting like the reporting was accurate. It wasn't. So we only fall for fake news when we like it?

So the Trump administration fell for fake news and found the need to publicly respond to it?

I don't know what happened in regards to the Trump Administration. I do know that almost 3 hours ago Amazon denied the reporting but we still have people acting like the reporting was accurate when everyone knows how much the MSM lies.

I’m typically a fan of transparency so if they would’ve done this I wouldn’t have thought anything of it. People that want to shop for made in ___ products or filter out specific nations could’ve more easily done it and people would have a better understanding of how tariffs impact cost. They could then make an informed decision on whether or not they are worth it. That’s a win-win in my world.

The other take away is Amazon is blatantly lying

But if they're not then the administration did respond to fake news as if it was real

I just find it amazing that I see multiple Amazon threads with posts in the threads acting like this was factual News when almost 3 hours ago Amazon denied the story right when it broke.

Narratives must be driven to advance whatever the agenda is. I think the goal here is to paint Amazon as a Chinese client (when Amazon, its retailers, and its resellers which are small businesses, will source from all over the globe) and to make the admin look like the defender of American consumers.

“Amazon shares Tumble” headline from ZeroHedge was fear mongering in the first place. Stock was down less than 3% at any point today.

OK.

Who put this out there if it categorically false?

The whitehouse press secretary responded to this fake news story and accused Amazon of making hostile political moves.

If this is fake news and it has the appearances that it is the white house fell for it and responded to it.

The MSM put it out there and Amazon denied the story right away. I just find it weird some posters are acting like Amazon did not deny the story

Right. There is more to this story. Trump talked to Bezos prior to the presser this morning. Either Bezos said "never heard of it, but I'll check with Jassy," or there were discussions underway, and Bezos scuttled them. But it's apparent there was no definitive answer from Amazon prior to the Bessent presser.
