As someone astutely observed, that one was loaded for dragon slaying. Loaded stall speed is about 150 knots with flaps down according to the internets.

Its got all those fancy computers and whozerdits that help it stay up there. Vipers are really frigging cool.

I dont understand how a pilot can take off and the tower has not made them ACUTELY aware that certain airspace is restricted today, ie dont head left on takeoff.

If he was not informed, he wouldnt know, its not as if that is permanent restricted airspace.

If he was informed and did it anyway his license should be taken for life, he is too stupid to be flying a plane.

By the way, while it was cool, that f-16 was way too late to be a deterrent if someone had bad intentions.

It's called a TFR temporary flight restriction, the guy should have know about it by reading the Notams. Notice to Airmen.

He certainly could have made confetti out of it way before that and had made contact well before the video was shot. No way that plane got that close without getting a flood of radio warnings and a close contact with the viper.

Its a dangerous position to put the military in though. Somebody has to decide to shoot or not to shoot. A few little communications errors and your joy ride in a Cessna to end in a nice little fireworks show.

Should circle his arse with a couple of A-10s.

No excuse for this , the restricted airspace is marked on the maps.

Part of pre flight is always to review your maps. No excuse.

Im sure the vipers buzzing him with a full load of frick you hanging off them was enough to have the joy rider shitting bricks. Im sure there was more than one and im sure they were making absolutely sure the pilot saw them and their weapons often.

Had that happen to me right after 9-11. Was flying solo in a rental plane south of Nashville. The radios were crap and I did not hear the flight center reaching out to me. Evidently I did not respond and when a plane showed up next to me it got my attention. Had to make a phone call when I landed at the destination airport. Those days the military was sitting on ready and was not taking any chances.

From the quick glimpse of it, the F-16s are going out loaded for bear too.

One drop tank in the center and the other 8 weapons pylons loaded up.

That Cessna doesn't stand a chance

That is sad. It seems far less planes under past presidents violated air space. This seems like a lot.
