Texas is gonna have a problem with liberal transplants voting for the same economic policies they sought to escape from by voting for democrats that espouse feel good shite that doesn't work in reality. I hope the people of Texas has a plan to avoid this.

I don't see that being the case. It did happen in Colorado but people move to Colorado for the scenery - it's a very Cali climate. Nobody moves to Texas for the scenery and def not the climate...we get the people that want to work. If they're moving to Houston they're likely already in the O&G business or IB....not liberal.

Ignorant. Someone's never been to Austin, or any other her major TX city.

California was once reliably Republican in presidential elections and routinely elected Republican governors and senators. People moving to California from other places in the US and from other countries changed California to more democratic in presidential elections and for senators.

These things could happen to Texas. Is it as likely as CA, most likely no, but it make Texas elections closer. So don't believe that Texas will always be conservative. Virginia changed and Florida has changed and don't forget that NC voted for Obama in 2008.

California is a tragedy. It was once the golden state of republican conservatism, and gave us Ronald Reagan. Now it is dominated by people who think it is a bigger deal that Toddy gets to marry than a man losing his job.

Also, Mexicans, who can't really think for themselves (yet), are used as pawns by the democratic party.

WELL, you must be an expert then. I guess I'll have to ignore things like economic data and demographics and listen to you.

I would still consider living in California. The politics are kinda screwy but the same could be said for Louisiana. Life is too short to let politics get in the way if happiness.

If I could work remotely and live anywhere Id probably live in the foothills of Sierra Nevada somewhere between Sacramento and Pacerville. Tons of outdoor shite to do. I'm in tech so SF would be like Mecca.

Corporate welfare? Maybe, but it seems to be unnecessary spending of millions by Texas taxpayers. Regardless, neither Chevron or Toyota are hurting for profits.

quote:

Rick Perry’s office refuses to release any information about the $40 million it’s offering Toyota to relocate to Texas, despite providing the Observer with similar information last year for a $12 million grant to Chevron.

It really is. Then of course there is the idiot who wants to split the state up into 6 states. Silicon Valley would be the richest state per capita under that plan if I recall correctly.
