Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows thinks the public can add Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to the list of Republican presidential hopefuls who won't run against former President Donald Trump in 2024 should he enter the race.

DeSantis recently edged out Trump in the Western Conservative Summit's presidential straw poll, but Meadows, in an exclusive interview with the Washington Examiner that took place ahead of the poll's release, danced around DeSantis's popularity and the notion he might challenge another White House bid from the 45th president.

"Gov. DeSantis has made it very, very clear that he is running for reelection as governor of Florida, but he doesn't shy away from being very bold in terms of the initiatives that he's putting forth," the former House Freedom Caucus chairman stated, citing three days he recently spent with DeSantis in California. "His reelect for governor is a platform to show that the policies, and the boldness, and, quite frankly, the courage."

"You know, I think Ron DeSantis is identified across the country now for the courage that he shows for conservative solutions, and he would be the first to say that if President Trump gets in, that he would win the nomination and would clear the field, and so I don't ever see it being a 2016 primary scenario," Meadows continued. "That being said, Gov. DeSantis won't even — he's asked over and over and over again every time I'm in his presence — he's been asked, 'Are you running in 2024?'"

"His answer has been consistent: He is running for reelection for governor of the state that not only he loves, but one that is, quite frankly, well run because of his leadership."

I guess we'll find out whether those who always said Trump's Presidential run was just an ego trip were right or not. If he cares at all about the movement he'll see DeSantis is the one to carry it further and the far more electable candidate 3 years from now.

No shite, this is why all this DeSantis vs. Trump dick measuring is pointless. Only one of them will run. Back whichever one does.

From a former prominent Trump 2016 campaign spokeswoman and surrogate....

But, wait! Are primaries good or bad? I’m so confused. @GovRonDeSantis should absolutely run - he has earned the opportunity. The conservative movement needs to figure out which direction it wants to go. Let the people decide.

Former White House chief of staff @MarkMeadows said Florida's @GovRonDeSantis will not be among the GOP presidential candidates who would run against Former President Donald Trump in 2024 if he chooses to run again, according to the Washington Examiner.

Agreed. But I think this coupled with Trump taking back an innocuous statement about him not winning in 2020; says Trump is running and DeSantis wants to finish his great role as Governor of Florida

How long does DeSantis have to announce Gov re-election?

That’s the right call. I’d vote for him regardless, but he needs to finish the job in Florida.

As a betting man I think Trump runs in 2024, which makes total sense.

IF you believe 2020 was stolen, and IF you believe 2020 was full of shenanigans, and IF you believe Trump truly won by a lot, and IF you believe these shenanigans can't be replicated in 2024,

then Trump is a no brainer. Ignore the media propaganda about how so many people hated Trump that they would crawl over broken glass to vote against him.

Only one of these things can be true:

1. Trump actually won by a lot and the election was stolen

2. Trump lost because so many people hated him

They can't be both true at the same time.

Since I believe #1 to be true, Trump is a no brainer to run again in 2024. I think he knows this, he knows he really won by a lot, so if he really did win by a lot, shouldn't you want him to run again?

It would be like having a horse in a horse race who was set to win by 12 furlongs, but lost because someone set up a tripwire at the finish line and the horse fell over. If you owned that horse, would you want to replace him for the next race?

BTW DeSantis will run for re-election as governor 100%.

It doesn't matter if DeSantis SHOULD run. He's not going to. He'll be Trump's VP

The democrats are gunning to steal Gov of Florida.

LINK

DeSantis can win easily; but could they get someone else that could beat the dem machine if DeSantis runs for President?

They have no shot. Charlie Crist has no shot. He is hated by both parties in FL. DeSantis has an approval in the 60s. No governor will come close to losing with an approval that high. The democrats only hope at this point is character assassination, and the constant "DEATHsantis" attacks are falling on deaf ears.

Please stop with this idiocy. Some of you think of the VP way too highly than that position deserves. It’s typically a worthless position where they aren’t important at all. DeSantis is more powerful and influential as Governor of Florida than VP of the US assuming Trump survives his term. Cheney is a historical exception rather than the rule.

Imagine being this little brained and thinking being secretary of worthless nothing and someone’s sidekick is more attractive than being Governor of Florida, the 4th largest state in America and 16th largest economy in the world.
