The trick is being certain that people are not forced into “voluntary “situations.

My only reservation when it comes to euthanasia. Undue influence is a centuries-old common law probate defense, and it seems that it could be easy for a malevolent actor to use euthanasia laws to benefit themselves.

Except it'll "progress" to forcing unwilling medical personnel to participate.

I think it depends on who I would like to euthanize. But, I’m all
For it!

lets start with all the rinos and never trumpers

if it works then make it mandatory for all liberals

but seriously, if someone wants to off themselves, then it should not be a crime to help them if they are of sound mind and documented their wishes it happens

Bad. People need hope, not assisted self-murder.

I am not in favor of it. God decides when we are to die.

So you are against any surgery or medical efforts to prolong any life? God decided on that cancer so why stop it? Is that how it works?

Anyone should be able to choose that. If I get diagnosed with Alzheimer’s I wish that would be a medical option instead of slowly rotting away putting much stress on my family. Now government mandated hell no. Individual yep, in the case of terminal illness 10000% yes

Deuteronomy tells us that the Israelites slaughtered the Ammorites for not believing in their god. They slaughtered ALL of them...man, women and CHILD. Now tell me, who is evil??

Ignoring the religious redemption undertones, suffering isn't inherently bad.

I'd slow your roll on that just a little. There needs to be parameters or you run the risk of letting a single parent who, outside of their depression, are 100% healthy choosing death and handing their three young kids over to the state.

Terminally ill who are suffering? People in advanced stages of unreversal mental decline? Sure and sure. Anything past that is too much imo.

IMO, people who speak out against euthanasia have not had the misfortune themselves with dealing with constant, excruciating, and debilitating pain. They haven’t experienced every waking moment being torturous and almost overwhelming, with no hope of getting better…only worse. Every day is a little worse than the day before. Let someone experience this and they’ll change their opinion quickly. Sometimes, death is merciful.

There are people out there dealing with treatable problems that shouldn't be given up on. Many of the issues people view as hopeless are products of modern living.

I'm not willing to sweep all mental illness under the same rug. That creates too broad a standard and one that some people will take advantage of.

Exactly. In this cold-hearted world -- in one single moment of emotional hopelessness and weakness -- "counselors" may suggest the "ultimate solution".

And frankly, who would be surprised if tState offers Commissions or "Counselor Compensation" in their warped fantasy-quest ("There's already too many people on our planet")

No problem with medical treatment to prolong life but there are European countries that have legalized euthanasia. The results are certainly not what you might imagine. Medical professionals euthanize children with disabilities who could live full and happy lives. They euthanize people with treatable conditions. I don't want to see that happen in this country.

If A = B and B= C then A = C

Thence

If euthanasia = killing innocent people
And killing innocent people = murder
Then euthanasia = murder

No-brainer and should be very simple to a moral society.

This has been tried before. And it didn’t start in Nazi Germany. I don’t like this idea because it’s cruel. We should try our very best to cure or better yet, manipulate the genetics that cause natural mental illness so nobody will have to suffer the horrible fate of living with or being executed due to mental illness.

Euthanasia has been practiced in this country for years. It just wasn't called that. It was called making someone comfortable who was terminally ill and in great pain. I practiced it myself.

The state, of course.
