National Guard in Washington D.C. are told NOT to carry guns or ammunition by Defense Secretary Mark Esper as he orders all active-duty troops out of the capital

The Pentagon has told Washington D.C.'s National Guard and guardsmen from other states in the capital not to use guns or ammunition

Order came from Defense Secretary Mark Esper and was made without the Pentagon consulting the White House

Trump has pushed for a strong militarized show of force against protests

Meanwhile, the Pentagon will send back the remaining 900 active-duty troops who were sent to the D.C. area to their home bases

NOW GET THIS!!

Esper (Sec Def) is a civilian. Pentagon top brass are politicians and warmongers for the most part. Without perpetual war, they're out of a job and post-military defense contracting consulting positions. The actual rank and file are more supportive of President Trump.

I thought 7/10 people wanted the National Guard presence. This seems like it will backfire on Democrats. The Pentagon openly going against trump is not good.

The National Guard should not be there with guns and ammunition, but a cache of supplies needs to be close by just in case.

The military should not be there. National Guard? Yes.

could be a good move
wasn't there a report of a stash of military garb found
if NG is disarmed, they can't be accused of starting any shooting

It is a waste of time to play whack a mole at this point.

The 2nd Amendment is here. Use it to protect what needs to be protected.

The government has sold you out. When people show up in your area, they will just have to be mowed down.

The govt has left you to fend for yourself. So. Fend for yourself.

I said the same thing.
I hope every statue and monument is destroyed.

And don't be surprised when in the future cops will not be allowed to carry weapons.

I am OK with this as well. It eliminates the possibility of soldiers firing on civilians. Also, that doesn’t mean the police aren’t armed. If anything does happen the blowback will be directed at Esper not the president. Also means that going forward the president could order them to be armed.

then they should not be there at all. Do not go unarmed against a weaponized mob hellbent on breaking laws and destroying property and persons.

I guess we will see if they have any other tricks up their sleeve. I'd be willing to bet they have something in mind for this.

Part of me wants to see one of those protesters have some explosives and blow a hole in the White House fence and then see 500 protesters pouring onto the White House lawn and running toward the front door. I'd like to see what the response would be.

It would be a massacre. I hope that does not happen. Not now and not ever.
