No cliffs but highlighted the relevant stuff. Posting this in a Devil's Advocate vein.

quote:

I’ve read the indictment, and I’m just smacking my head with how stupid this all is — not the indictment, but Trump’s antics as alleged in the indictment. This was all so avoidable.

Let me give you the highlights.

First, we’re not discussing love letters with the North Korean dictator. According to the indictment, after leaving the White House, President Trump kept plans for invasions of other countries, locations of American spies around the world, classified locations of soldiers, military vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies, classified assessments of nuclear capabilities of various nations, etc. That’s not small ball stuff.

Second, on an audio recording, Trump showed classified documents to people without a security clearance and — and this is the kicker — admitted the documents were still classified because he had not declassified them before leaving the White House.

This is important because some claim Trump, by taking the documents, automatically declassified them. But this audio recording shows that, in Trump’s mind, he did not believe that to be the case and knew the documents were still classified.

But this is the really bad stuff, beyond what he had.

According to the indictment, the National Archives demanded Trump hand over documents. Trump sent them 197 documents. Six months later, a federal grand jury demanded Trump hand over every other classified document he had. Trump sent the grand jury 38 more documents. When the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, they found another 102 classified documents. In other words, Trump withheld classified documents from the federal grand jury.

More damning, the indictment alleges Trump ordered his valet to move classified documents to Trump’s residence so that Trump’s own lawyers could not find them. And then Trump’s own lawyer says Trump asked him to hide documents from the FBI.

Trump’s own lawyer admits that!

The indictment also alleges, with photographic evidence, that Trump stored documents on a stage in the ballroom at Mar-a-Lago and that some boxes fell over revealing highly classified information.

Keep in mind that a Chinese spy tried to steal intelligence from Mar-a-Lago in 2019.

All he had to do was hand over all the documents. But he lacked impulse control. It is all so, so stupid. We can “but Hillary” and “but Biden” all we want, but none of them were caught on audio tape admitting to showing people classified documents, and, to our knowledge, none of them ordered a valet to hide documents from their own lawyer, let alone asked their lawyer to hide documents from the FBI.

At the very least, all of this should lead you to conclude Trump just isn’t responsible enough to be president again. But if it holds up in court, it could lead a jury to conclude he needs jail time.

Eric Erickson never has anything good to say on anything. At least, he's no better than your average Twitter poster (I know, splitting hairs). How do these idiots get paid for their opinions? I'm seriously curious how all these people that are so bad at their jobs still have jobs? Weathermen are more accurate. At least they can always say "Hey, I said NINETY PERCENT, not ONE HUNDRED PERCENT, so technically I was still 100% correct!"

If he actually had those things, the indictment would have been immediate.

It’s just so painful to read. Never thought Trump would turn on the USA like that. It must all be lies.

Doesn’t change the fact they were all dated before 1/20/20. I wonder what was the time stamp origin of these documents. If they all were during his term, I can’t see how our IA survives.

Quick question, if the documents are classified then how would anyone without clearance know what was in them or is this the same hysterical speculation from the original raid when the media claimed Trump stole nuclear codes and was going to sell them?

And if the Biden documents are classified, how would any media outlet know which classified documents were found in Biden's possession? How can they claim Biden's documents are entirely different than Trump's. Why? Biden had them longer and they weren't secured. And, anyone telling the media what is in said documents is actually guilty or of releasing classified information.

If this case moves forward, then Biden should immediately be impeached because he CLEARLY did the exact same thing. Having unsecured classified documents is either illegal or it isn't but as usual, liberal filth only want laws enforced against conservatives.

I would be shocked if Trump was that stupid. If true, throw him in jail, but I bet a lot of this is BS.

I wonder if he's in TD. He's from Jackson, LA. Has that dressed-up country boy blend of arrogance and stupidity. Would also explain who's gay enough to downvote posts critical of him, as there is no other reason to downvote them.

Lol

Trump is that arrogant.

But Erickson's points miss completely regarding Biden and Hillary.
Hillary had thousands of documents. She tried to permanently remove them from her hard drive (concealment). Her files ended up on Wiener's laptop with evidence that foreign nationals had access (not tried to have access) to confidential files.

If Trump is put in jail, what do they think will happen to Hillary and Biden once a new conservative president is in office?

What about if Trump knew that and was just saying what he said to impress his guests and make them feel like they were getting a really juicy scoop? Trump does shite like that a lot. Not a crime.

It's like when he gave Charlie Sheen a $200,000 watch or something and then Charlie got it appraised and it was basically a knock off worth $250

It would make zero sense for Erickson to support DeSantis. DeSantis is more right wing that Trump and does a lot of the same shite that Erickson supposedly couldn't stand about Trump I'm open to considering that DeSantis might really be a Trojan horse

No it’s not the same. Biden had classified documents as a senator and then as a vp. He had no rights to them.

Trump was president. PRA applied to trump. It does not apply to Biden. PRA doesn’t apply to pence either.

You and the effin media. Worthless. Period.
