Can someone explain to me how this didn't pass today in the La. Senate?
Seems cut and dry, equal rights for men and women. I am no lawyer. What am I missing?

Bc we are who we are, outside of a few cities.

The US Constitution already grants everyone with equal rights. No more special rights.

We already have equal rights for men and women on the federal level?
What exactly did this bill do to improve something that is already addressed?

Era has strange bedfellows. Sunions historically didn't support because they feared it would end labor protections. Feminists had mixed support.

Men and women already have equal rights.

More often than not, any legislation that is for "equal rights" specifically gives one group additional rights or exclusions from everyone else.
So when I see someone say "why aren't you for equal rights?!?!?" I immediately look for what special privileges their racial or ethnic group is trying to obtain.

Because it's worthless and unnecessary. I see you are easily swayed by bill titles.

I am going to propose the Liberal Ideology Equality Bill
All liberals should be shot. Equality achieved. Because reasons.
If you don't pass my bill you're racist.

Just wondering why they didn't just pass it if it doesn't do anything anyway. At least it wouldn't look or sound so ridiculous when people say Louisiana voted no for equal rights. Only like 13 states haven't passed it. So when Louisianans get called a bunch of dumb asses, it's because of things like this. Yet they are in the senate discussing Peyton Manning day or some crap.
