I consider myself to be very intelligent, not Elon smart, but smart enough to know a good bit.

20 years ago when I was a diehard dem, I have no doubt that a Dr could have at least swayed me to consider it IF I was being told my kid was going to commit suicide.

How old was the kid when this was happening? If the kid was 16 or older, I could also see where the father, any father, would struggle to stop them at that point.

Fast forward to today, and I would tell all of these groomers to frick right off.

Now, what if your child says they are the opposite gender. Are you going to deny them the care? Some people want to make that illegal. And a reason for your kids to be taken from you. What are you doing in that situation?

I think the key thing you’re missing is how susceptible people are to deferring to authority figures. And not in a ‘critique of their individual weakness’ way, but in a ‘this is foundational human psychology’ way.

Think back through time… all pack animals have an alpha, and our ancestors were pack animals. We’re saddled with the remnants of those social dynamics. Meaning we have hundreds of millions of years of biological evolution training our emotional states to be deferential to authority. You don’t defer to the alpha in a pack, and the alpha beats the shite out of you and leaves you stranded and alone. That was the status quo for 99.5% of the last fifty million years of human evolution. That is an extremely deep biological drive to overcome.



Go read up on the Milgram experiment if you haven’t yet. I think you’ll be surprised at what percentage of the population will do something that they know is wrong if an authority figure tells them to do it. We’re stuck with some really unfortunate biological programming.

I disagree. As the war progressed and the British became more oppressive with their tactics, support for the US greatly increased. By 1781 most of the loyalists were leaving or changing their tune.
