The Bible says the rain falls on the just and the unjust. Yes, on occasions, God has brought calamity on certain people for various sins, but bad things happen to godly people as well.
There is a line from Clint Eastwoods movie, Unforgiven, that always rings true.
After the younger partner with Clint kills a man, he is trying to justify it and says “ I guess he had it coming.”
Clint says,” we all got it coming kid!”
This is true. We all are sinners and all deserve judgement. Only God’s Grace and mercy spares us from his wrath.
