I paid off about $30k in student loans in the late 90’s. How much is that in today’s money?
Will I get that back?
Will I get that back?

So let’s penalize the STEM degree holder, while Cynthia, working as a lead Barista at Starbucks, gets her loan on her women and gender studies degree forgiven by $50K? Wow, just wow

The governments involvement is what has screwed up academia. The cost are rising in record breaking numbers due to the government. Simple solution. Drop the interest rate to zero because its an investment in our country’s future.

Making the poors and almost-poors pay for middle class college.

You keep trying to convince the board of this. Or are you trying to convince yourself. Never seen someone make that claim so often. It's weird.
Men don't think paying for your kids college and the college for kids that aren't yours should be something the government should do.

The bill would forgive $50,000 in student loans for Americans in households earning less than $100,000 a year.
If this bill passed in conjunction with another bill that fixes the predatory lending practices that lead to this problem I’d be ok with it. We’ve spent more money on worse things. Just gotta have new regulations in place to keep it from happening again

Silly tax payer. The government isn’t going to pay for this.

Why?
its because I don't want to see young people begin life after graduation 6 figures in debt from the jump. I realize that sounds like a liberal point of view. but I have a son. I am gonna have a hard time paying for his college, but I don't want my boy to begin his adult life in the red 50 grand or more. my opinion is strictly self centered.

Average debt is like 30 grand. It's not overwhelming.

Gameplan.
Divorce wife. Get government to pay off both our student loans because separately we are under the income limit...then get remarried once the loans are paid off

You think they are going to have multiple rounds of clearing student debt?

the interest on a government student loan would drive that up almost double, I suspect. My son is 12, and I haven't put much as much thought into it as I should have. I wish I could take a loan out for 30 grand and pay it off like buying a new car, lol. Not sure student loans work like that. any information from you guys would be appreciated
