I don't buy that.

What if he wasnt really an elite special forces guy? Do we have any data on him, other than his word that he was The Guy? I mean he seemed to seek attention. A Lot. How do we know he didnt lie about how wonderful his skills were? He fricked up that explosion. Doesnt sound like something an elite professional would do

Livelsberger’s ChatGPT searches reveal he was seeking information on explosive targets
The kind you shoot and they explode?
Maybe he was going to tape one to his head. He could blow his brains out and detonate the car at this same time.

Dude was an 18 Bravo (Weapons Expert) in Green Berets. He could have built an explosive to bring down the entire hotel.
He was an echo and a fox. Comms and intel.

So am I understanding it correctly that the 50cal handgun was used to detonate the tannerite and not shoot himself?

Our country needs a cleansing, really bad!

I think its possible people are looking at this wrong. In military you are not creating explosives rather using existing ones in controlled environment.
The environment isn't always controlled but the explosives are typically turn-key, not some MaGyver/Jason Bourne concoction of steel wool, some chemicals and a 9V battery. I've seen conflicting results about his official MOS but we don't train every SOF person to be an explosives expert. In the context of this, cobbling something together from readily available materials, we probably don't train ANY of them to be an expert because it's a waste of time.

A weapons expert in the Green Berets is not your average Army grunt.

True. A commo and intel Green Beret also doesn't automatically mean he can build bombs on the fly with home depot materials.
