Edwards must be feeling pretty good about his chances at becoming the first Democrat governor in Louisiana to serve two consecutive terms since Edwin Edwards did it from 1972-1980. At least he should in light of the massive turnout among black voters during early voting. When early voting came to a close this past weekend, some 31 percent of the voters were black. That’s slightly more than Edwards needs to secure a second term, assuming black voters account for no less than 29 percent of the electorate on election day and as long as Edwards can pull roughly 30 percent of the white vote. The hyper turnout in the black community during early voting means Republicans need to reach 43 percent of the electorate on election day. That’s not impossible, but it’s a huge hill to climb.

Stopped reading right there. Anyone who thinks that either candidate or anyone around them, in this tied election, should be or is even possibly "feeling good about their chances" right now, has nothing to say worth listening to.

That’s racist, and you should feel bad. Why do all blacks have to be on the plantation serving their Democratic masters? Jeez....

It will be tough on white people, tax payers of all races and business owners of all races for another 4 years if JBE pulls it out.

If the black vote is 38% of the total and he gets it all and he wins with 50.1% that means less than 12% of his voters where white.

Why do those 12% hate the rest of us so?

And even then, I'd rather be Rispone with one hell of a turnout tool in Donald Trump coming my way Thursday night.

Trump was able to pull a dead fish in Matt Bevin from being down 55-36 to within a point of winning the election last week and he made sure a shitty candidate in Tate Reeves won Mississippi too.

I didn't write the article. It's written by a well respected conservative republican journalist. It's his opinion, and weekly column.

If only people that paid a net federal income tax voted, Republicans would win with 85+% haha. Couldn’t imagine trying to convince myself why being last in the country in jobs is a good thing. Then again, I don’t have to tout, in my screen name, that I graduated college.

38%?

Obama got nowhere near that number in 2008 in Louisiana. Best case for democrats is 31% for blacks but I would not be surprised if it drops to 29% or even 28%.

That’s why Edwards is begging Obama for more money and is making the rounds playing Santa with our tax dollars.

They are all government workers, union members, nursing home operators, lawyers, or their relatives.

Next question.

JBE's GOTV specialist, Scott Arceneaux, worked the 2016 Race in North Carolina for Hillary Clinton and the 2018 Governor's race for Andrew Gillum in Florida. He was able to jump and amp up black turnout in early voting and there was talk about how that was going to be the difference in Clinton and Gillum winning against Trump and Desantis.

Turns out Arceneaux merely cannibalized black turnout and Trump and DeSantis won big on election day and were able to pull out the victory.

I would not be surprised if black turnout for louisiana in 2019 drops to 29 or even 28 percent instead of the 31 percent they need.

But of course, this is depending on Rispone having one hell of a GOTV effort on Saturday like Trump and DeSantis did in 2016 and 2018 and Rispone has the money and resources to do that.

This election is strictly a get out the vote election and the democrats have a large advantage there. They have "community organizers", they have "drivers", they have BBQ and buses, and they have money on the streets on election day. Republicans have only the fact that they tend to vote in greater numbers, but no real delivery system to speak of. I would be confident if I was Edwards too. All Rispone can hope for is a home run from Trump that will voluntarily get his voters out.
