Give a reasoned response of why you voted for JBE over Vitter.

Incumbent can afford to wait... yet... the incumbent has more ads. There is no real Democrat "machine" in LA (neither is there a GOP "machine" of course).

Complacency is going to result in four more years of this clown. It's amazing what some of you will accept.

JBE hasn't done a lot to alienate the voters who put him over the top last time. Sure the partisans aren't happy but I doubt many of them voted for him last time. There hasn't been the budget crises that defined the last couple of years under Jindal. The Medicaid expansion is popular enough to not be an issue. He signed that abortion law that the social conservatives will like.

100 percent correct.

It's very hard for the hard-right posters on this board, to think like a moderate, or at least to think not like a hard-right person.

It's been shown time and time again that the thoughts of the hard-right on this board DO NOT represent the thoughts of the majority of the voters of this state.

But they are going to continue to act like all is well and nothing to be alarmed with. I find their lack of urgency... disturbing.

100% in agreement with you. Rispone reminds me of Alabama's Roy Moore.

I would like to hear more about this. Rispone is running as a businessman, Moore ran as a religious cult hero.

How'd that work out?

Is that better or worse than calling him Jindal?

Seriously, this is right out of the Dem play book. Surely the Dems can do better than this?

They don't have to without the opposition making a positive case for themselves, especially with the lack of name recognition.

Rispone has a bigger war chest.

No Dem machine? No big black get out the vote machine? No sheriff machine? No trial lawyers? You need to check on that.

And the incumbent is out early too. He’s running commercials trying to introduce folks to his law and order background as if he’s a novice. Why is he reintroducing himself?

Both Abraham and Rispone have been all over the state talking to small groups for months. Rispone is putting up millions of dollars in his campaign.

The election is October 12th. That is over 10 weeks from now. By then people will be over saturated with political commercials.

That’s good. I hope they think the old playbook works. Look what happened to Hillary.

When it comes to running a campaign, the parallel to draw is between Hillary and Vitter. Both though they just had to put their name on the ballot.

JBE outworked Vitter just like Trump outworked Hillary.

In state politics? No. Not even close. The black caucus isn't going to do shite for JBE. The influence of the sheriffs is vastly overrated especially in state elections. The trial lawyers? They will vote lockstep for JBE, but everyone else hates them, so they have no influence.

You are in delusion.

Look, I hope you are right, I really do, and Rispone or Abraham wipe the floor with JBE. But I've seen this song and dance before. So have you.

I think competition for the republican spot is a good thing, as long as after the nomination has been made the loser wholeheartedly supports the winner.

He just bought 5 million dollars in TV ads.

You need to do some research into how effective the machine is and how they turn out the black vote here in La. Sheriffs and Trial Lawyers raise the money. They spend it on ads, and greasing the right palms to get out the vote. You are very naive.

I’ve been called worse.
The thing is you never know. Who really thought Trump had a shot 10 weeks out? Things happen. And yes something more than we see now needs to happen for Edwards to get beaten.

quote:

I don’t expect anyone to wipe the floor with Edwards, but I could see Edwards having problems.

And reality is this situation is new. A Dem incumbent in a conservative state runnnng against a well funded novice using his own money and s solid Republican from N La.
