Oh boy? Since WWII we’ve had thousands of American soldiers die fighting in wars and countries that had nothing to do with actually protecting the US and it’s citizens. These soldiers died fighting for the interests of the American government not for the protection of the American people.

No, the right thing would've been to fete the ones who show up, and ignore the ones who don't. Act like it's no big deal.

2 or 3 players and a mascot? That's beneath the highest office in the world...

Ah, the wiggle word. Who says they are? You were the one that made the claim that the protests were a non-factor.

last I heard it was only 10 that said they wouldn't show.

But even if was just the coaches and owner that showed, he should've had it - JUST LIKE HE SAID HE WOULD.

That's just so pathetic on so many levels. Blame other people for your lack of principles. Awesome.

How about stay true to your word and do what you say you're going to do, STOP FLIP-FLOPPING. if you say you're going to have a party, have a party. If no one shows up, maybe you should consider your ways.

Trump was in a no win situation here, and while I think it's petty, it's totally his personality to do this.

And that's a huge problem when you're supposed to be a leader for the most powerful country on the planet.

Trump doesn't really gaf about America or Patriotism, he just says what he has to keep his base worked up so he can have the power to make things happen for his businesses and line his own pockets

I bet if they improved the delivery of their product, and ignored the protests, they would increase viewership.

I bet if they cut the commercial time in half, the rise in viewership would far outstrip the loss of viewers to protests.

So the protests are a factor and now we just have to argue about degree?

Then the story line for the next week would be how 95% of the team screwed Trump by not showing up to the White House.

At least this way, he controlled the narrative, whether you like it or not! And he still had a ceremony, just without the Eagles, and replaced by our military!

When will you all learn ALL NEWS is fake news?

Trump is just nother demogogue using a cliche to his advantage.

He always loves him some Fox News and I always laugh knowing how Fake News worthy they are, just like their cousins at NBC and CNN.

Trump sounding like Stalin today pimping economic numbers to his advantage.

Trump, he has to know that even the soviets had full employment, right?

The idea of full employment is a fallacy our uneducated populace refuses to acknowledge.

I know multiple people that have recently been laid off of high paying corporate jobs to take an opening at their local liquor store or convenient store. What a deal.

I don't know that Trump isn't patriotic. I think he probably is. But I do think Trump cares foremost about Trump, and that there really isn't anything he won't use if he thinks it'll bring glory to himself.

they would have screwed themselves... most of those guys aren't winning another Super Bowl to get a chance to go again. This was one of their rewards, and if they didn't want it regardless of whom the President was...

When the narrative he created to control is that the president of the most powerful nation on Earth is a petty, petulant child, should anyone like it?

Without a doubt. Hillary would have been the same way IMO, just more of a bitch than a douche like Trump.

People like those two are dangerous people to have in power, it doesn't matter what their politics are. That's why the last election was such a blow to this country.

the issue ends up being about perception and personal experience, that's why the fans are pissed. They feel hurt players they love and appreciate don't appreciate our country and perhaps a loved one the fan lost in uniform.

You think that kneeing for the anthem shows that the players don't appreciate their country or those who have died in uniform.

Where did you come up with that?

When Kaepernick first protested, he sat during the national anthem. He was told that was disrespectful, so he said he would kneel for the anthem, so as not to be disrespectful of military veterans.

Ascribing all these negative intensions to the players' kneeling is largely a function of the perspective of the viewer.
