Dynamics of the country: Left vs. Right

The left boycotts Chik-Fil-A = Chick Fil A doesn't change their philosophy, they do not suffer financially.
The right boycotts NFL. After doubling down on stupid, the NFL desperately backpeddles along with other NFL teams. DirecTV offers refunds of their Sunday Ticket.
Remember that, and the 2016 election, when the media tries to tell you that liberal ideals are consistent with the majority of the country.

The ideals and actions of the vocal minority of the left are not entirely consistent with the majority of liberals.
Most liberals don't give a frick what Chikfila does. Most liberals like living in a free country, and accept that we all do.
This NFL/Trump debacle tells me that conservatives are much more petty than your average liberal.

Why does the left call the right petty for boycotting something they don't agree with? I thought this country was started because of a boycott?

Fortunately your opinion of what is valid is limited to yourself

Woh woh woh Ms Lippy. If I liked it that much I wouldn't deprive myself. My convictions about this are only superficial. NFL has been going downhill a lot. This just gave me the perfect excuse to play golf on sundays now too. Plus the Presidents cup team said they will stand like men. I almost have to play golf on sundays now.

I posted about this yesterday.
The REACTION for Chic Fil A was key.
IE, they didn't.

Meanwhile, the NFL guys......and more importantly, their defenders.........decided to just basically make fun of anyone who would think kneeling was not a good thing..........and, in many cases, called thinking this racist........and, tripled down by often talking about how shitty America was.
The former, by remaining basically mum, simply drove on.
The latter, managed to piss off entire swaths of people WAY beyond just those griping about the kneeling.
Well. That. And, um. The NFL might want to take a peek in the seats of their stadiums the next time they decide that going all in on the "America's racist" theme starts to make sense to them.

My wife's best friend is gay and he loves Chick-Fil-A. A little gay-hating isn't gonna keep him from eating a delicious chicken sandwich, some waffle fries, and sweet tea.

Yeah, I suspect a lot of these proclaimed boycotters feel the same.

Your wife's best friend is a homosexual and not you? WTF.

Best friend other than me. He's a good dude.

I suppose it was petty when the Left was calling for boycotts of states making insane persons bathroom bills? When the Left was calling for sponsor boycotts against states and localities no allowing insane people to wander in and out of public bathrooms in private businesses?

Headline in USA Today, print, sports:
"NFL Winning in Battle Against Trump"
Narrative: 'NFL, Coaches, Players all unite against Trump."
They left out one group... fans

I firmly believe that citizens, on average, are much more middle than left or right.
The problem is that the vocal minorities on the political spectrum (I'm NOT talking about racial minorities) get the most attention. And people love a little type drama and sensationalism (human nature) so they feed the beasts on both extremes by giving them a disproportionate level of attention.
Add into the mix that politicians can play to these issues and increase their visibility, and you have a system that encourages addressing fringe viewpoints rather than tackling mainstream (boring) problems.

There are a lot of self ID studies. Most have 'conservative' ahead of 'liberal.' Perhaps because liberal has become such a dirty word that they changed their name to progressive.
Political knowledge tests are consistent. Those who ID as 'left' or 'right' score much higher than 'moderates.'
Conclusion is that 'moderates' don't pay enough attention to politics to know what they think.

How's that work?
Either "the left" never boycotted or never went to Chik-Fil-A in the first place, if Chik-Fil-A never paid a financial price.
I guess a third option is that the Poliboard contingent now exclusively takes all their meals there as a counterbalance to some boycott.

I've seen some of those studies. Some are based on people's self-identification of whether they are left or right. If you've ever watched a YouTube video interviewing voters, it will destroy your faith that anyone actually knows the issues, regardless of how they identify. So, many labels and self identifications may be incorrect. You Facist :)

Kinda like how Trumpkins aren't allowed to watch football anymore.
