Ivy League University Ditches Standardized Testing, Will Judge an Applicant's 'Background' and 'Voice'
If you’ve lost sleep over whether you’ll get into Columbia University due to your test scores, rest easy — those no longer matter.
Online Wednesday, the school made a major announcement: It’s permanently dropping standardized testing requirements for undergraduates. Congradu-lations.
People are complex; a single factor can’t define them:
The holistic and contextual application review process for Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science is rooted in the belief that students are dynamic, multi-faceted individuals who cannot be defined by any single factor.
Nuance is necessary. Maybe someone bombed their SAT, but they have a university-worthy identity:
Our review is purposeful and nuanced — respecting varied backgrounds, voices and experiences — in order to best determine an applicant’s suitability for admission and ability to thrive in our curriculum and our community, and to advance access to our educational opportunities.

The majority of universities already abandoned the idea of a rigorous education and actual learning for minor competency in only a handful of majors out of many worthless ones.
Now, they’re eliminating the only remaining measure of quality, the assumed pedigree that went along with the rigorous testing in the admissions process.
The stage is set for independent certification tests and private certifications, which will make these extremely expensive university degrees practically worthless… unless the universities pull their head out of their woke arse and drop this nonsense.
Imagine a future where a company creates a basic knowledge, field specific knowledge, and practical skills testing methodology with an actual merit based “degree” granted, all for a relatively inexpensive cost of several hundred or a couple thousand dollars.
Young people could study on their own, take on-line courses from master educators around the world, and never have to pay for a crappy dorm or a lazy river.
