I don’t understand the argument of how standardized testing is racist or culturally biased

The language is the same for everyone in the actual tests involved so how does it penalize one group against another or put some at “disadvantages”

Pandering and reparations. We are on our way to becoming a 3rd world country. So Sad. I will keep working to help my kids and grandkids become financially able to keep away from a democratic ran city or state. That is my goal at this time. fuk the democrats and the people who vote for them. All they want is to bring the working men and women down to the level of the thieving stupid fuks who are bleeding the government.

Following in the footsteps of their commie brothers on the west coast, the Univ of Maryland system has dropped its SAT/ACT requirements. The purported reasons have nothing to do with academic excellence and everything to do with that sweet arse student loan money.

Letting people into a top colleges who didn't earn their way in via merit is not doing those kids any favors. They'll just end up being the dumbest students in the class.

I can believe it.

One of the older history professors at my school was an institution and an expert on the Civil War.

I only had him for a 200 level American history class from Reconstruction to present.

He taught a 400 level Civil War class which was considered excellent but hard as hell. Anyone passing got a free bumper sticker reading “I survived XXX’s Civil War.”

One of two professors I had there outside of my major who were excellent teachers and was glad to have had them.

The higher education bubble is starting to burst.

They will take whatever dummies can get approved for FAFSA.

Diplomas are just paper at this point.

Want an example? Sheila Jackson (oyster persons) Lee has a degree from Yale.

I wouldn’t trust her to do anything meaningful.

That sounds like fun. Those experiences are really good for us

When I look at my education, I may have credentials, but I believe that UVA graduates 50 years ago were much better educated than I am.

Back then, UVA was educating a small group of, effectively, Virginia’s elites. Or whatever you want to call them. Standards were higher because it was a select few, and they were capable people.

As it became a mass market institution, in tune with the national culture coming out of Hollywood/NYC/Massachusetts, and all about expanding access and ensuring equity, standards dropped, and dropped precipitously. The lowest common denominator went through the floor. And expectations followed right along.

Plus the whole mission changed, it wasn’t about educating Virginias leaders, but about achieving social change, and those other amorphous, leftist, social goals.

For me it was over when they removed the plaques dedicated to our Confederate dead, and when they destroyed the Lewis and Clark statue.

I have good memories of UVA, but the place can burn for all I care now.

Intelligence and work ethic mean nothing now, when it comes to school. All that matters is indoctrination. Streamline everything so more people can enter universities and get indoctrinated.

At the high school level, they don't even take reading and math seriously anymore. For example, lots of Baltimore high schoolers can't read or do simple math.. but I bet they're up to date on woke ideology.
