No one in my house is getting it, most importantly my kids. My wife is a teacher by trade and I'll have her homeschool them before I allow them to be injected with this bullshite. Both of them had it already and were sick for about 6 hours and neither me nor the wife got it (that we know of)

The problem is really one more of whose voices have been amplified rather than what the epidemiologists and medical advisors have been recommending. I don't really blame the medical staff themselves, at least for the most part. Fauci has a bad habit of contradicting himself and speaking extemporaneously, but he should've never been put in a situation where he was such a public voice in the first place.

Before the pandemic, they recommended all sorts of shite that the average, everyday American pays no attention to. I mean, who here really checks to ensure their burgers are cooked to 170 degrees? It tastes like shite at that temperature anyway. Or keeps to 1 - 2 drinks when watching college football? What they recommend are, from a technical and medical perspective, the best advice for Americans to follow. Fine. That's not how a good life is lived, so everyone before the pandemic either used the medical advisors as rough guidelines or ignored them altogether.

The problem was their voices got put front and center as religion last March and April at the expense of - sometimes to the exclusion of - every other worthy voice (economic, educational, recreational, social, you name it) in the decision-making process. I blame Trump for some of this - he waffled and left a vacuum that the medical advisors were only too happy to fill. He should've shut that shite down early on. He also never followed the Ferguson model to the exclusion of everything else.

DeSantis, on the other hand, was exceptional - he had a good medical staff and listened to them, but he was the one making the final decisions from day 1 and took into account the entirety of the situation and didn't leave a vacuum for his public health people to become so prominent.

He absolutely was.
