This guy is the wishyst of the washyest:

quote:

'I would say between 100,000 and 200,000 cases,' he said, correcting himself to say he meant deaths. 'We're going to have millions of cases.' But he added 'I don't want to be held to that' because the pandemic is 'such a moving target'.

So why even make the damn statement if you're not willing to back it up? This is pure fear mongering using an opinion of indefinitive truth.

Key word is "could" kill 100k to 200k. The virus "has" already cost 3 million jobs. These scumbags must be held accountable when this is over.

He's talked about the virus cycling back next fall
Right.
IMO, that is what's most bothersome about his statement.

We have Hydroxychloroquine/azithromycin and Remdesivir studies in works. By Fall we'd have Remdesivir, Regeneron's mAbs, etc. online. Fauci should have access to some of those preliminary results.

Sounds like he's not banking on anything until the vaccine arrives next summer.

The total of virus will kill isn't even the relevant number. The relevant number is how many of that can be saved with the actions being taken?

that's the only way you can evaluate if the actions are stupid or not

We may have 3.5 million deaths*

*If all 350 million Americans get it.

I am doing as instructed, but that number is still less than a third of the people who die each year to heart disease.

I don’t think he is because he also has said this “ If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%. This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.”

If half of the US will eventually get it and 1 out of every 1000 people will die then the 100k-200k death toll would correct. The media wants you to be believe the death rate is over 1% and that 1-2 million people will die. They are the ones who are fear-mongering.

What lie, that's 1%? Do you suck at math? You're just using conjecture.

How many people will die in car accidents in the next 2 years? Because that is what he is basing it off of.

Fauci is a DS tool. I saw Fauci has now done interviews with Steph Curry and Trevor Noah. Promoting DS tools through celebrities is a tried and true DS method. I can't recall the NBA having one of its most prominent players interview the current Surgeon General.

WTF are you talking about? Take it seriously....You mean everyone who is not on board with starving to death to slow down a new flu is not taking it seriously? This may even be as bad as the flu in 2018 where 80,000 Americas died.

$2.2T spread over 200,000 deaths is $11 million dollars per death.

If we have 200,000 deaths and someone pulls some number out of their arse saying that means we saved 1 million, that would be $2.2 million per saved death.

pretty easy to calculate, a trillion is a million million

The $2.2T is only direct government spending. The total cost to everybody from the response is probably closer to $10T, so the country is going to pay $10MM per saved death if we save 1 million people.

All rationality discussing this is completely gone. The precedent is set. We will do this at least once a decade going forward.
