Is the risk worth the reward in this case? Please forgive me because I haven't kept up with the math on the tariff situation with China so what is the defense of the tariffs? Is it going to help more than it hurts?

Don't slaughter me, I'm a republican like most of this board. I'm just not very informed on the subject.

Is it worth the risk to capture bombers? I mean...he really wasn't efficient at killing people. So, maybe we should have not caught him...because...you know...the Dow dropped AFTER!

We should be exposing the hypocrisy of what other countries do and appealing for fairness but I don't think a tariff war is what anyone wants. China and the US especially.

Depends on the metric used to measure "help." If you mean by purely a cost to consumer measurement, heck no it won't help. If we find out that Chinese steel and aluminum sold to the US are substandard on purpose, then an argument can be made for effectively subsidizing an industry in the US for strategic purposes. It would "help" in that regard.

A 2008 type recession would be great for me right now.

Can't we just stop China by suggesting that anything injection molded will be subject to an additional tax to offset their cheating?

But it's the report card. Dow points are what @real trades for tendies.

I would think there are several different methods to achieve that....I also know I don't have near the intel the POTUS does, so based on his work so far, I'll defer to his judgement for now.

Dear Mr President,

Is this trade war necessary? Please clarify your justifications for the tariffs.

Sincerely,
Tarzana

Dow needs to shed about 5000-6000 points to get healthy. It's overvalued currently

Maybe some truth to that given we went from 17000 under Obama to 24000 now. 7000 in little over a year is pretty stout.

Yes..

Like it or NOT China is in a trade war with the USA. We have been losing for well over a decade. This is not an Obama issue either.

there absolutely is truth in that. Talk to your financial advisor. I would love to see 20000 Dow. I would be getting some nice stocks on sale.

Oh I'm definitely keeping an eye in it. I'm a fan of buying stocks on sale and eyeing startups.
