How is this not just straight-up, irresponsible, fearmongering at this point? This group has no validity with their announcements.
I remember being concerned, growing up in the 70's but at no point are we near [or surpassed] the perceived threat of the 50s.
PS - Note Reagan's years and where it led to quickly.

I would say [If they valued CaptainFid's input], the Clock should have been rolled back MUCH further with the fall of the Soviet Union.
I remember patrolling the Aleutians during the 80's, being concerned about the Soviets... but also knowing most of them didn't want war any more than we did.
When they fell, I felt the greatest threat [not end-of-world though] comes from religious extremists. It still does, unfortunately today.
Today, we are nowhere near an 'accident' resulting in MAD - Mutual assured destruction.

That danger has been way overstated ever since I heard of it.
However, in my judgement, they are justified in moving the clock forward in recent months. If Putin feels backed into a corner and isn't overthrown, his last option will be to use nukes. If he does there are many bad consequences.

Someone needs to explain 1960 to 1963 to me considering the Cuban Missile Crisis was October 1962.
I can only assume they didn't meet to make any changes during all that mess, and then when it resolved itself, they felt the aftermath of that was the world was safer due to the perception neither side wanted war.
