re: DOGE is a good idea, I'm not too sure about the planning and execution.

Right. They seem to be rushing it and kind of incoherent. I like the general idea of DOGE too but it’s been haphazard and as you stated, and apparently terribly underplanned. They had to call some nuclear maintenance and bird flu people back because apparently they didn’t realize who all they were firing. No reason for that to happen. It’s like they’re more concerned with making a big splash and not being at all vigilante about it.

The OP made a valid point and you just went right to your default. Not everyone who questions Trump is a lib. You’re the lowest common denominator that Trump loves.

They have two years to get as much done as possible, before the house swings back to the Dems in all likelihood. This is just the tip of the spear. That's why it's fast and furious. DOGE has barely made a dent so far, they need to keep going fast and furious for two more years to make a dent. And Congress is going to have to be a major player to codify many of these cuts so they aren't simply reversed in a few years.

More than 50% of every dollar spent by the federal government is wasted and unnecessary.

Pretty much nailed it.
I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed when they finally understand how difficult it is to remedy 60-70 years of feeding a bloated government and then trying to fix it in 2 years. A good start would be getting a few federal bureaucracies scheduled for abolishment and those programs/responsibilities moved back to the individual states. I haven't seen any serious talk or plan from Team Trump to get that process started.
Until some federal bureaucracies are abolish and heading for the trash bin of history I'm not convinced any serious or lasting changes are happening.

There isn't a sensible person in the US who doesn't want to see the bloated federal government reduced and reduced substantially, but the process must be well planned, it must be metered and the American people should have a general idea of the plan and process. Just haphazardly cutting federal employees seems performative and in some cases makes DOGE come across as a fricking joke, we don't want that.
I agree with this. It's clear there is bloat and we could be more efficient. It's not clear to me what the plan is or if there is one. The whole thing seems like a big act, especially since the supreme court upheld our constitution on who has power of the purse. I'm happy the recission process is going to be followed and they we'll see some measured cuts, but with debate clarity and oversight

Everyone hates processes to clean things up because it can look ugly and it can hurt good people, but we can’t keep kicking the can down the road sir.
We need to rip the bandaid off so the real healing can happen.
That's what people seem to be missing in my OP, I;m not kicking this shite down the road, I'm saying let's get serious and get a fricking serious plan and let's get it on. Whacking a few thousand federal employees doesn't move the fricking needle, we need the announcement that certain bureaucracies are being shuttered by some given date and here's the plan to move that business back to the state level.

Slash and burn is the only way to bring a wild and overgrown forest under control.
Merely pruning and shaping may make the outside look nicer, but it's still a fricking disaster on the inside.

You're going to catch a lot of shite for saying this but I agree wholeheartedly. I'm all about cutting government but there's zero thought put into this process.
maybe they did put thought into it and those that think otherwise just do not agree with the process..
Or..
maybe this is controlled chaos by design that seems to be effective as everyday there are newfound evidence of corruption and malfeasance that with "proper planning" and "timely execution" would have given ample time for the corruption to have been hidden..
at first glance, It seems like a random pattern through which departments they are auditing and gutting but the fact they started with the us govt.'s largest slush fund, USAID, tells us otherwise. I would say that there was alot of thought that went into all of this, just the fact there are no leaks is pretty impressive.
Ill give this some time to play out, it's been less than 2 months, I dont think they are in full swing yet....

Musk wielding the DOGE chainsaw was pretty funny but in reality the attempt to significantly reduce the size of the federal behemoth is serious business and it's going to take very savvy, very smart and very serious people to ever have a chance of becoming reality.
Quoting this for posterity.
OP doesn’t realize, I guess, that Musk is one of the smartest people on the planet and also the richest.

Business is a domain in which inexperienced people often imagine themselves to be smarter than the most successful leaders.
Here are some of the worst takes on DOGE from our least experienced citizens.
1. "DOGE should use a scalpel, not a chainsaw."
2. "The cuts need to be more thoughtful."
3. "DOGE is lowering morale among the affected."
4. "DOGE is creating chaos."
5. "DOGE is how Musk will rob the country."
6. "Musk was not elected."
7. "DOGE needs to be more transparent."
If you find yourself tempted to say any of those things in public, I recommend taking the week off of social media.

I can guarantee most of the posters who are melting have never been involved in restructuring a small or medium size business let alone a bloated federal government, it takes some careful planning and execution. I say let's get moving with a plan that will be successful, I've yet to hear a coherent plan from DOGE or Team Trump.
If someone has seen the detailed plan from DOGE and Team Trump to whack the federal government by 30-40-50% I would like to see and I will apologize for the OP

Disagree. He has to run a chainsaw because there's a ridiculous amount to go through. It's been openly said they will make mistakes on the way, but try to fix as they go.
They know they have 2 years before elections, and they will need time to both break, and fix the economy before then.

Shut up. We don't care what you're sure about, or not.
frick thr old way. And frick being politically correct.
If it's waste, it's waste, period. And it stops that second. And I guarantee you, those that got fired, know damn well they were staying by doing nothing for years.
