It would be amazing if the two party system collapsed.
I felt like that once, and while I agree that 2 parties make no sense, there would need to be at least 4 parties.
The problem though is that the parties with voters don't have money and the parties with money don't have voters.
And to note even in this imagined breakdown many people belong to two or more groups.
Moralist Christians
Funding Level Moderate
Voting Population: High
Blue Collar Workers
Voting Population: High
Funding Level Moderate
The Poor
Voting Population: Moderate
Funding Level: Low
White Collar Workers
Voting Population: Moderate
Funding Level: High
Techno-Capitalists
Voting Population: Extremely Low
Funding Level: Extremely High
Business Owners
Voting Population: Low
Funding Level: High
Patriots
Voting Population: High
Funding Level: Moderate
Academia - Inc Teachers/Students
Voting Population: Moderate
Funding Level: Moderate
And obviously other groups
In theory it would be easy to form a party of Patriotic, Blue Collar and Christians that gets 60% of the vote all the time.
But no one with money wants that, and they would get advertised into oblivion.
The major problem is that everywhere that has more than two sides becomes a hyper liberal environment, because those with money find it easy to take over smaller groups.

You think the big picture is 2 years from now.
In reality, the GOP will be ruined for a minimum of 8 years after every neocon president.
The best time in recent history for actual conservative values? 1992-2000. All thanks to 3rd party Ross Perot and conservatives who cared about spending enough NOT to fall in line with the status quo.
"accepted the reality" means serving the status quo. And then later you'll fricking cry because all we get is the status quo talking about how nobody does anything.
This is true.

Our society, government and economy all depend on the idiotic two party farce of a system.

It is NEVER time to move on from crimes in the past that have not had justice served.

Multi Party systems are basically an oligarchy.
The wealthy who can afford to be in politics get elected as it's easy to capture smaller parties.
They then shake hands with their fellow enlightened oligarchs and do whatever they feel like.
The end result is complete lack of consequences for ignoring their voters.
Politics isn't easy.
What our politics really depends on is the guarantee that politicians want to be elected and reelected.
It keeps them from doing too much crazy.
A 2 party system means that most of them could easily be out of a job asap.
Self Preservation means they watch the mood of the electorate and shift in the wind.
Trumps good at that, an ideologue is not.
Once the Democratic Party became captured by ideology, it gave way for a populist republican (seriously there is no Republican party platform).
I do root for the return to the days of Bill Clinton where the Democratic Party was much more pragmatic.
Good governance is it's own reward.
But until the Democrats can admit that men are not women, and never will be, they will continue to be an ideology based party.

Time to move on to more important things.
Republicans don’t have time for that. They will have muh hearings for YouTube gotcha moments while wasting time trying to subpoena highly redacted FBI files.
