I’m fine with reforming entitlements. Don’t accuse me of viewpoints I dont have if you’re going to argue with me.

I'm not accusing you of that viewpoint. I'm accusing the person you proclaimed in this thread is the only candidate you'll vote for, of having these viewpoints.

Meaning, any politician needs to recognize the reality that, even tho we were forced by dumbass leftwingers, we all paid into the system with every paycheck we’ve ever earned, and even responsible savers have used these systems to plan for their retirement.

This milquetoast BS is why they're such albatrosses. Nobody wants to be the one who is the first who doesn't get to suck on the teet. It's how Boomer have been in power for 20-30 years and haven't done anything but expand them, but then try to bitch about fiscal responsibility (of others).

quote:

Conservatives have to solve that problem, and “conservatives” who want to get elected need to do solve it in a way that doesn’t alienate people

Is this worry of alienation only permissible when discussing entitlements, or do we get to use it generally?

quote:

what’s your solution?

End it. Distribute whatever is left in the pool proportionately in tiers per what was put in.

quote:

I’m fine with keeping them solvent until we get our $$$ paid in out of it

Then you're being selfish and your plan will never work.

The people with the strength to enact this policy will take the biggest Ls from it. That used to be called leadership.

a. Trump spoiled that option

b. Trump as President isn't getting elected again. RDS as his VP changes nothing (for Trump. It ends RDS's political career)

Trump has proven time and time again that he not only will not refuse to with others, but he cannot work with others.

Do you people not realize this is nothing but a popularity contest?

What would RDS do to save Trump's campaign, as VP?

How would RDS win over suburban white GOP women...as a VP and with Trump?

I initially wanted a shared ticket as the fail safe poison pill to counter the unending democrat impeachments during any future Trump term.

GOPe support behind Desantis doesn't mean he's one of them, it's because they hate Trump and see Ron as the most likely to beat him.

I can flip shite around too.. check this out-

Actual white supremacists support Trump, therefore Trump must be a white supremacist.

See how stupid this shite sounds now?

Ah yes. There's the threat.

Ron can't win without Trump's voters so get with us or else.

The old burn it all down strategy.

There’s nothing in the pool.

The only way to fix it (I think) is to end it with some kind of grandfather for those over 18. I don’t like it, but I don’t know another way to do it and make sure anyone proposing a reform of it becomes elected.

Ryan wanted to phase it out, meaning, I got less of the benefit when I retired than those older than me (he and i are about the same age and I can remember him using that as an example). It was very unpopular even before the granny and the cliff ad.

So - ending it is both a bad idea politically and it could also cause legit harm to people especially at the below middle part of the ladder who are faced with greater uncertainty about retirement.

The unwillingness of republicans like Paul Ryan to see that was what made the “Electable” candidates not very electable, in my view. Even if they were more polite and articulate.

Plus their foreign policy ideas are cancerous. Trump was the best foreign policy president of my lifetime.

I get that, but it's not really responsive. The question isa bout electability.

Our resident genius believes that RDS...as a VP....would somehow save Trump in the purple areas Trump is despised by moderate GOP populations.
