No, he just worships himself.

You just recycle these same simplistic threads re your view of liberals and just change a few words in the fact pattern like old law school exams.

What you can't seem to comprehend is the liberal mindset. And you can't because liberals, unlike conservatives are not monolithic. Try as you might you can't generalize as you so often attempt.

And the sad thing is, very small minded ignorant conservatives do exactly what you do here every day on this board. KCT, SEC Crazy. Pick a name, there are many who do this. The only difference in their threads and yours is, you've got a bigger ego and like to hear yourself think. So yours are longer.

But in the end, there's not much difference between you and them.

Vegas Bengal, you're not much different from FT, Tuba, Rex, Draconian Sanctions, etc. Did you really mean to go there?

I've personally out argued you so many times that it's ridiculous. How often do you even talk specifics? Very seldom.

man "liberals" (whatever fricking label you want to use) really have latched onto 2 arguments to try and dismiss discussions about their beliefs or general policies/beliefs

1. you're using an incorrect label, even though i believe the exact set of beliefs you describe

2. your comments are [insert discriminatory descriptive word] and below discussion (racism is the big one)

i have been developing a discussion idea about these argument tactics...i just haven't decided if it fits with one i've been developing about trigger words or if they deserve their own discussions.

Being sympathetic is not the same thing as being empathetic. They are not interchangeable.

Congratulations, VB. Once again, you have trapped yourself with your own vapid, empty rhetoric.

Conservatives are far more diverse regarding their beliefs than are liberals. Taking SFP and myself as an example, I disagree with him on same-sex marriage. SFP also asserted once that atheists are the most discriminated-against group in America, and I was only too happy to blow up that particular bit of insanity.

I don't know how sfp feels about Ted Cruz, but I have a feeling we disagree there, too. I would vote for Sen. Cruz for President in a heartbeat, while I'm not sure sfp would pull that lever.

So much for your ridiculous assertion that conservatives are a monolithic group, VB. Meanwhile, how often do you disagree with Rex? Tuba? Draconian Sanctions?

In the future, Bengal, try actually thinking before you post. Maybe that would work better for you.

PS - You are right about one thing, though. Anybody who has read even a fraction of sfp's 297,000 posts knows that he's full of himself. That probably includes sfp, himself.

I'll let a Jim Jefferies quote sum up my response:

quote:

My girlfriend's favorite argument when I'm telling her off about something...is the problem with you is that 'you always think you're right.' And I always go, 'do you say things that you think are wrong? Is this what you fricking do?' Of course I always think I'm right. I might not be right, but these are my opinions, so these are what I therefore believe to be correct. Are you just saying things, willie-nillie? This is probably why we fight so much.

Good for you, sfp.

I always try to lay out my honest, well-defined opinions, too.

Let's not forget the bigger point being made, though. VB said that conservatives are a monolithic group. Relative to the way it is with liberals, that's simply and absurd statement.

oh yeah that's why i put in a picture of ironing, b/c that comment was quite ironic

it's part of their egotistical delusion that they are intellectuals and nuanced, which makes their beliefs correct. it's a tautological way of looking at the world and it allows them to (1) feel superior, even when wrong, (2) shift discussions by creating "nuanced" arguments that are nothing more than strawmen, or (3) avoid arguments altogether, like we've seen here, by claiming their views do not apply to the policies being discussed, because their views are so nuanced

there is a reason intelligent posters like VB and VOR avoid my discussions and settle on mocking the low-hanging fruit like SEC is Crazy

there is a reason intelligent posters like VB and VOR drop into issue-specific threads to do the same

and i'm waiting for the next round of excuses to not discuss policy: "you have a closed mind"

knowing what your opponent will say is not having a closed mind. it means that you are well read and understand both sides of a policy

a point that has some potential validity, but not in this thread. it was the "liberals are racist against black people" stuff

subtle racism of lowered expectations and all that
