Bushes are way too high.

HW is 5, W is 6, Brandon is 7.

While I didn't like Bush Jr initially, I think the way he rallied the country post-9/11 was something amazing. Especially when looked at through the lens of today's USA, we are lacking that comradery that I doubt we'll ever see again.

There are no other “great” presidents on your list.

Agree. Clinton might get more nods if not for the corruption. He was definitely a snake, but he was a great campaigning politician.

Winning answer. Who cares about those largely compromised presidents who really didn’t achieve much of historical note? Not I. Give me Lincoln, give me John Adam’s, give me Kennedy. The rest I question

They're politicians, none of them did anything remotely selfless or deserving of high praise. Most are psychopaths that would have your family killed before they'd have their legacy negligibly tarnished.

I could probably make the best argument for Reagan, as he genuinely attempted to lead the nation in some aspirational united fashion and did so while making some policy inroads and selling a better, if not perfect, brand of conservatism. I'm not sure that rises to greatness on any scale other than the mountain of suck that has followed, though.

W's 9/11 guidance was honorable and fit for a President, everything else was trash. Trump held the line on certain policy items and kickstarted some abandonment of conventional wisdom thinking that was contributing to overregulation, bloat and foreign entanglement. But he didn't tread any meaningful ground on the size of government, spending, centralization of power, etc. etc. And he's a mediocre leader with mediocre personal traits. Being the right guy for a crap moment doesn't make him "great".

Hot take: "Greatness" implies one or more are great and none are
This.

I don’t think we’ve had a single competent, capable, respected POTUS since Ike, much less a “great” one.

As for the names in the OP, the most confident and secure I felt in this country’s future was during Reagan’s second term and Clinton’s first. Other than those brief periods, the US has been in a steady decline that seems to be accelerating.

Biden over Obama because Biden doesn't even know when he's soiled himself. Obama and his marxist/Keynesian minions are the puppet masters right now.
