Voting on principle is one thing, simply aiding the opposition and attacking a president because he accomplished what you couldn’t is completely different. McCain was not the same POW maverick during the last 12-16 years of his career as he was when he started on politics. He was a career politician and a war mongerer. He should have left Washington after his complete embarrassment of a presidential run.

Hell, even Bolton refuted the Atlantic article.
quote:
Bolton, who was on the Paris trip, commented on the story to The New York Times on Friday, saying, "I didn't hear that. I'm not saying he didn't say them later in the day or another time but I was there for that discussion."
What a stunning rebuke of the Atlantic article. John Bolton wouldn’t even be surprised if Trump said that.

However, Bolton suggested the comments aren't out of character for Trump, telling the Times, "I haven't heard anybody yet react to say, 'That's not the Donald Trump I know.'" Bolton also told Bloomberg it's "it's certainly possible" Trump made the comments "later in the day."

quote:Not really the right question. We have 11 folks, including enemies of the POTUS, saying this never happened vs an anonymous supposed source in a piece written by a Democrat donor.
Do any resident dems actually believe Trump disparaged our fallen soldiers?
Do any resident dems actually believe if the source was telling the truth on this two-year old story, he/she/it would insist on anonymity out of fear of reprisal?

No, but you have been chomping on that little orange toadstoll since Trump came down that escalator with his rent a “lady of the night.”

Woodward stands by the attributed quote. Since you want background, Trump and his father denigrated Fred,Jr for his National Guard service, calling him a “stupid loser.” Trump has a stipulation in his package to Marla Maples and Tiffany. It forbade military service, and if Tiffany were to enlist, she would be defunded. Trump prevented his son, Don, Jr, from joining the military. Trump had his daddy pay a DPM to write a bone spur dx for Trump to avoid service. Trump has made numerous comments disparaging military service. In addition, his father inculcated a demeaning attitude toward the military. Trump’s father did not feel that way about the Nazi Bund. He decried America’s entry in WWII but managed to profit from it.

I doubt he disparaged our fallen soldiers.
He absolutely disparaged our POWs.
I'll never understand why he wasn't over at that point.
Let's illustrate absurdity with Trump's own off the cuff remark about certain POW's named McCain. For the purposes of this argument, assume he believes deeply in his soul that ALL POW's that were captured are not heroes, that true heroes either win or die trying:
Why would he make that comment in about people who all died fighting (instead of surrendering)?
Answer: democrats want/need this to be true, and if you want or need something bad enough, lying, cheating, and fraud is justified.

this crap is WAY old news!!!!
as someone who has been stuck in traffic because of a Presidental motorcade and many times held up at Union Station in DC because Joe Biden was getting on a train to Delaware, I actually appreciate the fact that he DIDN'T go!!!!

Of course he did especially off the mic. Sounds exactly like something he would say. If y’alls life depended on it all of you would admit he did.

There are two things of substance pertinent in this scenario.
One is Electoral numbers. It's all about who gets power; the Transnational Progressives (Open Border)...or Nationalists. Biden is the former...Trump the latter.
Two: Is this a window into Trump's mind that - if given ultimate power, which is highly likely to occur in the form of 'martial law' or the Authoritarian like - will be problematic. I.e., will he go rogue. I think there is a lot of 'George Patton' in Trump; regardless, both fit ther job description and task which they are destined to fulfil.
Book this...if this *Trump* don't do 'whatever it takes' to fulfil His Oath - "protect and defend God-Given Constitutional Rights"...the next *Trump* will be ruthless and heartless (pragmatic) beyond measure. They won't be asking for votes, but bodies and guns.
Petty 'gotcha' games in thr big picture.

For the same reason he had manufactured bonespurs, forbade his sons from enlisting, legally prevented through child support/ matrimonial agreement the enlistment of his youngest daughter, and his mental and emotional bullying and disparagement of his older brother. He does not see the value of serving in the military. Trump is about Trump. It is obvious, unless you are a cultist.
Posted on 9/5/20 at 8:08 am to 93and99
To be honest, I wouldn’t put it past trump to say something outlandish like that in private
But I don’t think he said that

Henry Kissinger, as reported by Al Haig, called those in the military dumb animals. According to Henry, the military are stupid pawns to be used for political purposes. Trump consults with Kissinger, and uses military for a prop. Trump cultists are irrational, and some moronic enough to doubt Trump would disparage dead American GIs. They need to reconsider, over a shot of disinfectant..
Didn't American Nathan hale say i regret i have but one down vote to give for this post.
No, he actually said as he was being executed by the British he regretted that he had only one life to give for his country.
But I think you guys get the idea.
I rarely come into posts on this site where I wish I could give a ton of down votes to.
But this was one. Nathan Hale was one brave guy and didn't want to make light of his sacrifice or bravery. But u suspect he would agree with my sentiments here.

They are making this up - the media hasn’t reported one true thing about Trumo in 4 years. They twist his words or edit shite out. So many examples - fine people hoax - fish pond in Japan - all Mexicans are rapists - if they were just honest about Trump he would be the most beloved president in history.
I’d take a bullet for him at this point.
