I think it's fading. I see both parties overly influenced by fantasy. I suspect though that that is a product of unfettered communication among those prone to being easily influenced.

They shouldn’t, but he sure tried to look MAGA.

He called Trump an authoritarian at one point in 2016.

Pompeo was a clandestine Obama flunky.

I think oklahog is right. The epistemics of the whole party is affected.
The democrats are affected as well.
They would never be talking about Epstein or whatever the frick unless they were trying to on-board defectors from the Q crew.
This sort of thing is why I hate the conspiracies. It sucks oxygen.
Instead of actually trying to solve problems that help people, TPTB are all trying to invent new ways to call one another pedophiles.
This will all pass one day but damn if it isn’t annoying as frick. It seems every 40-60 years, the U.S. government is due for some sort of bullshite that turns us into retards.

Yes, and it goes beyond politics (although the realm of politics itself has expanded) to include virtually any bespoke reality you can cook up.

This board has zero critical thinking and reading comprehension skills. That Fox article says the intelligence community’s report stated that Russian activities did not “impact” the 2016 elections and that based on this report, the Obama Administration lied when it said Russia “attempted through cyber means to interfere in, if not actively influence, the outcome of an election.”
Those two statements are entirely compatible with each other. You can attempt to influence or interfere with something without having an impact. It was proven, much more than any fraud in the 2020 elections, that Russia did attempt to use misinformation to influence the 2016 election.
Sane Americans will know this is just a BS attempt to distract. Same Americans also know that the MAGA movement is full of dullards who will believe anything if it implicates people they hate. Imagine thinking this is some “gotcha” and simultaneously thinking 2020 wasn’t an attempt to overturn the Constitution.

It depends on the generation. Pelosi continues to poo-poo it, but Jeffries and some other younger Dems were willing to jump on board after making sure to poll it for about a week to talk themselves into it.

I mostly agree with this on the opportunity cost of CT politics, but I see the other side that if you study history, you see both CT panics AND conspiracies, but it typically doesn't end well when you center your politics on CT's (but the American revolution worked out for us

Now, sane American, which way do you think they were more likely to influence the election? Towards the candidate whose literal campaign slogan "Make America Great Again", with all that implies economically/politically/militarily? The same America the leaders of Russia had been at war with for 70 years.
Or, the candidate who had sold them uranium to make weapons with merely to line her own pocket?
Now, I wonder which way Occam's Razor would most likely point?

To piggyback on this for the people who want to believe, this is all information that was reviewed multiple times before including by Kash when he was working in the DNI's office with Grenell and producing evidence for Durham. If you want to believe that they and a Republican-led Senate committee, "Hung Horowitz" and the rest missed treason, these bread crumbs are for you.

This is activating my almonds a bit.
People like to say “oh, well it all went downhill after xyz” which implies we were on the up and up at some point.
But looking back, this whole country was built on propaganda. “No taxation without representation” as a slogan…. Thomas Paine’s “common sense”
Have we always been this way? Are we the baddies?
Posted on 7/19/25 at 10:51 am to Hateradedrink
That's one way to look at it, but not really how I see it. The story we told ourselves wasn't all true or false, and it fostered prosperity and inspired others elsewhere to adopt a generally positive worldview for themselves. We're sensitive to propaganda, though, and that's a feature of us being sense-making creatures evolved in groups of 50 or so when you knew everyone and could suss out their reliability personally. New tech brings new ways that the powerful can manipulate our trust and sense-making heuristics and it takes the people awhile to catch up and develop civic skills, laws, and culture to have a fair shot (by which time tech has changed and the elites are manufacturing consent again
). This spell's "catch up" feels slow as molasses in real time, but it is starting to happen.

Russia was defeated and not coming back.
If I had lost “round one”, I would be trying to start a “round two”. The only way to do that would be change the trajectory of my foe.
I’d be careful with the Occam’s Razor thing because that razor is double-edged.
