Trump had no opposition that met any sort of threshold, if I recall correctly.
Usually there’s some sort of polling number that has to be reached by a certain date to get onto the debate stage. Not to say that Trump wouldn’t have tried the same thing.
Seems a little early for the Democrats, but no one is surprised by them doing this.
