You’re not going to know for sure until the opinion is released in a few months.

The oral arguments will have a set time. The ruling won't be for some time.

Argument is today. The Justices may vote but we won’t know until later.

No, but on a big-time constitutional question with real-world ramifications like this, I imagine they’ll want to get something out relatively soon.

Nah. But a positive SCOTUS outcome would make things much simpler. He's hyperbolizing. Bessent has made it clear there is a Plan B for Tariffs.

MOST of the power the president has is what Congress gives. Fixed it for you.

The president has some implied powers not expressly granted by congress and also Article II.

That was a civics lesson for a 5 year old and you failed the test . You need to read the Constitution my bro

You skip Article II?

If you think he needs this, you need Congress to pass legislation granting him this specific tariff power

The executive derives its power from the constitution not congress.

He doesnt need congress approval to use executive powers to protect the United States.

Its why he chose this avenue to apply the tariffs. I believe the USSC will agree with him.

Not really, considering the President can veto the legislation

Wait, two posts ago you said Congress gives him his powers, how can he veto something?

The problem is he's using a statute in a novel way that was not the intention to expand executive powers beyond the intended scope. It's similar to Bidens loan forgiveness using the HEROES Act.

You are equating students to the destruction of the entire US economy at the hands of foreign adversaries? Quite a ridiculous analogy. Come on slo we are better than this.

No. The game has changed the past couple of decades and we haven’t kept up.

Yes, foreign trade has always existed.

In fact, when our country was founded tariffs were the primary source of federal revenue, making up about 90% of the total revenue.

What part of the Constitution permits the President to enact tariffs?

Tariffs are specifically a Constitutional function of Congress, and the President, as I said, only has the power Congress gives him.

Trump is applying tariff power derived from....Congressional statute
