Is it physically painful to be as ignorant as you sound?

Can you give us some links for German/Slavic abuse in the USA that go beyond the camps that FDR relocated Japanese to?

Forgive me, but I’m going to link to the Daily Mail

And here’s an NPR piece about a lynching

I’m partly German, although that side of my family arrived in the 17th century. My grandmother was the last one in the family to speak the language. From a practical perspective, I think state sponsored efforts to assimilate the Germans was necessary.

I was surprised to find out there were interment camps though. I’ve never heard anyone in the family talk about it. The family did host a German POW during WW2.

How come liberals think white people have to believe that diversity is our strength while people of any other color are encouraged by the same group of liberals to believe the complete opposite?

You answer your own statement, but it’s about power, and making us weaker

Probably because he said everyone who voted for the other guy was an extremist. You can’t unify while denigrating your opponents.

cohesion and unity of values.

That’s it! Diversity of ethnicity and race is probably a strength, as long as they assimilate into the American value system. Indian-Americans are a great example. They hold onto some of their kooky traditions, but they believe in the American project. Plus they bring great cuisine.

The articles you linked (I know it's the Daily Mail, but they don't seem to be fans of the Germanz!) show decently fed people in mostly clean clothing with hats. That's POW treatment for most of the world. I was more referring to how we treated Japanese on the west coast, even though those MF'ers fought like heroes in Europe. Japanese were generally not taken prisoner, but the European prisoners were supposedly well treated (fed, clothed, housed, not sleeping in Treblinka style bunks

This is kind of my point; they put a POW in your family's *home* so your grandma could cook biscuits and gravy for him to eat. I'm absolutely glad that a POW was treated like a human being. Kudos to your grandma for white gravy to anyone that needed it.

German Americans originally had their own separate world, with German music, and German language newspapers. They were often quite insulated from mainline culture.

The difference is they were northern European like the vast majority of the rest of the country.

Cultures were not all that different.

My paternal grandmother was able to speak German fluently until her last day and I had relatives on my mothers side that spoke Norwegian as well as they did English.

I don't think it was northern vs southern euro, but in that time period how do you figure the groups where that different? Why did Norwegians fish in Alaska, but not off the Northeast near Newfoundland? Why did Germans settle nearly everywhere? South Central Texas? That is a German not making a good idea, unless there is gold or oil where you make your claim.

All interesting questions, which I would like to be explored.

I would like to find out the answer, but I am sure we're going to pay for $10M on why ducks lay eggs on one side of the road as opposed to another before then.

I think where they settled was mostly where the available land was. For example the time period the Germans were immigrating the heaviest is when the upper midwest was pretty open. Loads of Germans in WI and of course Milwaukee had the breweries due to them. Back in the day many smaller WI towns had breweries as well.

The railroads advertised land as they moved west and often the ads were in the languages of the recent immigrants versus English.

Something I'm curious about; Do southerners ever say "Gesundheit"?

VDH - in his trademark style - calmly and objectively dissects this insidious cancer and exposes it for what it is. The DEI Ruse Is Imploding

Also worth a look is the Podcast featuring he and Jordan Peterson. Much discussion on "Tribalism". LINK

LINK ]

More light needs to shed on the DEI issue. It's more serious than we make it out to be, IMHO. Don't assume your friends, neighbors, and children already know.

DEI for LIFE: "Does DEI mean lifetime tenure on the rationale that once standards are no longer purely meritocratic in hiring, they must similarly remain nonmeritocratic for lifelong tenure?"

"In the end, DEI will implode because of its many contradictions: it is racist to the core; it is illegal and violates court decisions and the Constitution; it destroys meritocracy; and it is utterly incoherent in adjudicating who and who not deserve racial preferences."

I hope he's right... I never in a million years thought this to be possible.

“Disconnecting collaboration from lineage is our strength” is the far more accurate version of the ‘diversity is our strength’ assertion. There’s tremendous truth in the former that I hope y’all don’t lose sight of as the left keeps pumping the latter

Because in that same speech he called me and half the country extremist racist threats to the country. His speeches are always divisive to the extreme.

My mom used to say it sometimes when we'd sneeze. She had some German ancestry. I thought I'd heard other people say it, but maybe not. It's been a while.

Because his unity hates the everyday American. Unfortunately like most liberals.
