The Orlando media loves them some Disney. They never say anything bad about the Mouse. They despise DeSantis so I definitely see this becoming a huge partisan political operation.

The federal judges in Orlando are all a bunch of liberals. The only conservative was G. Kendall Sharp and he just passed away.

Don’t forget that one of the Trump FISA Warrants was signed by an Orlando Judge.

I read an article this morning that Disney was going silent as that was their best bet in getting the special district back. I'm *shocked* that news article was misinformation. Should I direct that article to Brandon's new disinformation board?

both ways and you can be “targeted” for the penalty.

Except it's not a penalty. Removing a benefit is not a penalty.

Don't get me wrong because frick Disney but I wonder if they may have some ground to stand on here.

They made sure the legislation wasn't ally disney. I believe it hit 5 special districts so from a layman's eye it's not solely Disney based even though it is.

Otherwise you creat the benefit and it can never be taken away? I’m not a lawyer, but this seems frivolous on the part of Disney.

All I am saying there was no economic rationale for taking it away. Politics aside, its worked out enormously well for both parties since it was implemented over 50 years ago. There was no other reason for yanking it other than retaliation for Disney's political position and inserting themselves into the political debate over "Don't Say Gay"...that isn't my opinion its exactly the reason DeSantis said.

I'm not a lawyer either but just playing Devil's Advocate and wondering if Disney has some ground to stand on.....another avenue Disney will pursue is that this was done in a special session I believe and not through the same process as it was created. Maybe that is a reach but that is one argument I have heard Disney will pursue.

20 years ago I wouldn't disagree with you. However, that's not the political climate today. They structured the bill to not only affect Disney and from my libertarian stance whatever you provide Disney should be provided to every business and if any businesses don't have the same advantages that Disney gets then it's front capitalism and needs to be reined in.

Disney's position is clear.

They are saying the deal signed in 1967 specifically prevents what just happened, UNLESS the state of Florida clears the debt.

Disney is saying you can dissolve Reedy Creek but our specific contract says you must retire the debt. If you don't, you cannot dissolve the deal.

I'm no lawyer and I'm sure some complexities are involved but that is Disney's position and ultimately some court will decide or a new deal will be negotiated which is what I can almost guarantee will happen.......after Desantis is re elected.

I agree. But that’s how it’s being framed, that the state has somehow harmed Disney, as if Disney has a right to this benefit. They don’t. And I think the fact that it was created by the legislature and taken away by the legislature is/was the right way to do it. If Desantis had issued an EO dissolving the district , I could see that being over turned as being outside the constitutional process. I don’t see how Disney can argue they’ve been targeted without acknowledging they were targeted for the benefit.

Would this not open Disney to discovery??

I’m sure there are a few skeletons in their closet??

Who says there has to be? I really don’t know if there does, I’m just asking.

Disney suing to have their tax burden passed onto the citizens? That’s weird.

The only argument they may have is that this legislation was directed at them and was done in a retaliation. DeSantis made quite clear why this was done and it was to punish Disney.

The law they just passed dissolves 20 or 30 other special districts as well though so that dog won't hunt.

Why would they do that? I was assured this was a financial boon for Disney and would only hurt taxpayers.

Thats what I kept hearing too, the poor taxpayers were now going to be stuck with bond payments. You mean the state can just tax them to pay what the bond would have cost? Nah really?

I do think shareholders should be able to sue the company and this big mouthed ceo, what a mess.
