I have never spent a dime going to Disney, I kinda want my kids to go, and I am not one of those to boycott companies, but just how gay are we talking here? Like trannys dancing in the street, or a gay Cinderella?

I wonder if the Disney+ parental controls can be used to screen this?

I also wonder why they allow for parents to restrict what their children are exposed to on their streaming platform...

Disney is going to FAFO when DeSantis and the Florida legislature yank all those wonderful tax breaks.

Not currently. I already looked into that when they updated. You basically only have the ability to set rating levels for profiles. From TV-Y or G all the way up to MA. You can't block specific things.

What they should do is read the bill

They know what’s in the bill. That’s why they’re objecting so harshly.

Welp...since they think it's okay to talk about this shite to kintergardeners, looks like even TV-Y won't block it.

This is why you buy physical media.

Anyone that allows their kids to watch Disney or go there is enabling child abuse.

In defense, it wasn't like this until about 5 years ago.

Wow. They're doing everything they can to burn up all of the goodwill Disney has accumulated over the years. If they don't fire Chapek soon, I'm not sure the company will survive him.

I’m giving the first upvote to the OP simply because the union leaders stated that the employees walking out would violate their contract.

Like it or not being “straight” is normal. I’m fine with moving forward keeping all romances or sexuality from movies/cartoons targeted bellow a middle school audience though if it would end this.

Grooming kids sexually. Nice.

This is a massive failure to understand the issue. It isn't about sex at all. The bill uses vague language about what it bans, while simultaneously allowing teachers to be sued for perceived infractions. When a representative tried to modify the language to be clear that the bill is restricting sexually charged content, Sen. Dennis Baxley rejected it saying that it would gut the intent of the bill, which is pretty damning right there. DeSantis says it's to keep explicit material out of the classroom for kids k-3, but a) that's not a problem that exists in the first place and already has policy and legistaion to protect against, b) it also bans talk about LGBT for all grades up to 12th that is not "appropriate" but doesn't define what "appropriate" means.

So, what if you are a gay teacher? If a 5th grade teacher decorates his desk with a picture of him and his husband, he could very well be sued into the ground under this bill.

This isn't about removing sexual charged content from the classroom, it is entirely about persecuting and striping protections of a subset of minorities for no reason other than a general dislike. Baxley once called the gay population of Florida an infestation, complained about gays having jobs (wtf?) while talking about legislating against them (while ironically speaking in a room that had a Ronald Reagan qoute on a poster about how the government should stay out of people's lives lol).

Arguing that acknowledging the existence of gays *neccesitates" an explanation of sexual content that is inappropriate for kids is ridiculous, as gay relationships are defined by sex just as much as straight ones. Kids don't fricking care. Just because their teacher is a lesbian does not mean that we have to explain to them what cunnilingus is. If they ask, you just say that the teacher loves their partner, just like mom and dad love each other. Bam. Just like that, conversation over.

This bill is just an attempt from the government to interfere with people's lives, something that most of this board disagrees with. It is antithetical to a small government perspective.

I've had three key mentors in life. Two are/were (one has passed) hard-core christian conservatives that see the world through crimson-colored sunglasses. One, however, is my high-school English teacher, a gay man from Florida. He saved me from a very dark period in my life and is not just the best teacher I have ever had, but a fantastic person who genuinely makes the world a better place. Pushing him out of his field by legislating a legal right for parents to sue him for simply existing as a gay man is wrong, and hurts our society.
