The criticism is over having the conversation in November 2022.
The election is November 2024. The RNC is in August 2024. The first debate isn't until late 2023. Nobody has even announced they are running yet.
It may very well come down to DeSantis vs Trump 15 months from now and that is the time to have the debate and slap fights.
The only reason people are discussing it now is because the MSM and Dems are pushing it in order to switch the conversation from the failures of the Democrats to yet again Orange Man Bad. And the Never Trumpers are pushing it in order to switch the conversation from the failures of Mitch McConnellstein who withheld GOP support and money from candidates that didn't toe the party line.
If all you QaRon dumb fricks would quit giving the groomers and pedos clicks and regurgitating their talking points this "debate" would be dead in a week.
Republicans should be focused on how to implement common sense mass mail in ballot control and having a clear and productive agenda for the next 24 months. Those are the keys to winning more ground in 2024 in Congress and taking back the White House. Without those 2 things it does not matter who is at the top of the ticket.
* "But Trump started it with his tweets". No, Trump has criticized the media and GOPe since June 2015. And Trump has given every opponent a cute nickname. Trump is just being Trump. If you choose to throw a tantrum over his tweets then you are no different than the blue haired they/thems who have been reeeeeeeing for the last 6 years.
** And I didn't address your question of who is better, Trump or DeSantis, because that is not a relevant question for at least another 9-12 months.

Most Trump supporters will vote desantis. But would desantis supporters vote trump? Or are they just going to go libertarian again?
