you're talking about huge losses.

Except the NFL isn't experiencing any of that right now. Money is up in the NFL and shows no signs of slowing down.

Now if only all of those people were cut the cable, stop drinking beer, stop purchasing vehicles, and basically stop buying computers with Windows on it. Then maybe you'll see a dent.

Operating profits (earnings, before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) were a record $101 million per team last season, with every team north of $40 million. The $3.2 billion in league-wide income is $500 million more than the combined earnings of teams in the NBA, NHL and MLB.

8 percent of a lot is a lot. But it’s still 8 percent. In 2017.

Again, nfl is doing just fine. However, Posting that making 8 percent in 2017 is evidence the nfl is doing great isn’t a great strategy.

The increase is attributed to an escalator in the league's TV contracts as well as the Thursday Night Football package becoming more valuable.

National revenue is expected to increase again in 2018, because FOX is paying more for Thursday night games this year than NBC and CBS paid to share the package in 2017.

The declining TV ratings could have an effect on revenue at some point, because networks would no longer be willing to pay as much for the broadcast rights.

However, that is unlikely to happen before the current television deals expire in 2022.

Ok, Bonds. You are right. It means little until there is a realization event anyway. The Panthers are the 24th largest TV market and just sold for north of that 2B figure. More importantly, they are printing money thanks to hefty TV contracts. That was the point of the follow up post.

I have zero issue with this. I have zero interest in it, either. I’ve always thought NFL cheerleading was goofy

They came for the female NFL cheerleaders and I did not speak out because I was not a female NFL cheerleader...

And a lot can happen between now and then.

Like they can dig themselves further into a grave and have the future contracts lose even more value?

You're correct if that was your answer.

Lol. Yeah, that’s the only potential outcome. You guys sure do take this issue personally.

It's not the only outcome, but it's the way the NFL is heading with the general PC.

And I don't care that much about the actual kneeling. It's the pussification of the NFL and squandering a huge cash cow because of inept leadership .

THAT'S what irks me.

The Saints had male cheerleaders for decades years ago, then they canned the cheerleaders and let the Saintsations move in.

What?? I’d be pissed if I had only made 8 percent last year. I’m not sure what you are talking about.

I’m watching he nfl right now. I don’t want them to go anywhere. I think this is another case of you ignorantly ascribing positions on someone else based upon your own bigotry.

I’m sorry you don’t understand the point about earning 8 percent in 2017 being pretty rough. Especially for an asset that size.

Colorado had a gay Asian on the flag team ( I was a season ticket holder ) in like 1996. We called him Flag Boy. He was tremendously flaggy.

Report: NFL teams' revenue share topped $8 billion in 2017

Reuters Staff

A glimpse into the Green Bay Packers’ books shows that NFL teams raked in about $255 million each in 2017, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

As a public company, the Green Bay Packers must share their financial information. And the information the Packers released Monday showed the amount the teams received in revenue sharing, representing a total of more than $8 billion to the league’s 32 teams.

The money primarily came from revenue from the league’s television packages, Rovell reported. That is an increase of 4.9 percent, due in part to the rising value of the NFL Thursday Night Football franchise.

Packers president Mark Murphy said the lingering effect of some NFL issues, including the national anthem controversy, did not harm to bottom line.

Real news disagrees.

The average NFL franchise is worth $2.5 billion, up 8% by FORBES’ count over last year. The Dallas Cowboys were the only NFL team worth $2 billion five years ago. Now all but five of the NFL’s 32 teams are worth at least $2 billion

What is that based on? Do they have $2 billion in hard assets? No. That’s based on the potential revenue from future ticket sales and advertising dollars. That valuation can change very quickly.

People are disinclined to watch football when they take measures to make the game safer from catastrophic injury, and you mean to tell me that they think being PC is going to fly with that audience?
