I think he's having a meltdown because he was only funny as his character on the Colbert Report.

He has been exploited as a hack on his new show.

The more they rant and people notice that the world is not going down a toilet bowl and ending, the more it will hurt the Democrats.
It just makes them look desperate and petty.

His career is over anyway.

no it's not

cbs was regretting the decision to give him 11:30. they overpaid the guy and he was bombing, and now he's #1 so they're going to do the same thing again and watch the fricking ratings tank when people start getting bored by trump.

but who knows if that will ever come. if he rides it out for 8 years, well it's hard to argue with that kind of success.

The days of Johnny Carson making fun of everyone are long gone.

I miss those days when TV was good.

Good natured ribbing for all with no agenda other than to make everyone laugh.

Now it's all just far left wackos ranting and preaching from a soapbox under the guise of comedy.

Switch off. I want to be entertained, not listen to a hardcore left political personality air his grievances.

on this we agree. I was going to say, POLITICS is killing comedy but comedians overall tend to be liberal.

Colbert isn't a comedian he is a hack.

I don't care at all that Colbert "disrespected" POTUS.

I do care that he's using juvenile name calling as a substitute for wit, and that he won't be punished for this. To be clear, I don't want him punished in the sense of "you shouldn't say cock." I want him punished on the basis of "you're a comedian and you're not doing your job because you stupidly believe your unfunny political opinions have value."
Why would he be punished? He is giving his audience what they want. CBS let it go to air, so while they may not agree, they obviously didn't disagree enough to cut it.

Also, in case it wasn't clear, he went on this name-calling tirade because Trump called the show "Deface the Nation".

But yeah, let's just let the POTUS be as juvenile as he wants, but hold comedians to a higher standard.

His sad jokes don't offend me as an American, they offend me as a connoisseur of good comedy.

Colbert has sucked as a late night host. He comes out and slams Trump everynight as a one trick pony. Colbert was great on CC during the W. admin but this is getting old fast.

So "Deface the Nation" is somehow more juvenile than "cock holster?"

I think Colbert realizes he bet on the wrong horse by leaving The Colbert Report, so he's trying to turn Late Night into a political show.

No. I don't think I've watched a late night show since I was a teenager, I'm 38.

I love it, defend the motherfricking president for his juvenile remark on national television by saying "hey look this fricking comedian is way more juvenile than him".

Keep it coming, guys. Comedy gold in here.

You can tell Colbert really hates Trump. He needs some help to get through the next 8 years

Politics can make for great comedy. Just when the underlying subject matter actually has something funny to exploit.

Just consider for a moment how liberals have reacted to Trump's election. It's a gold mine for comedic material, and the best I've seen is that one Onion article about Cal shutting down the campus when a WSJ was found on a bench.

Just a few weeks ago liberals were complaining that members of the right didn't respect a painting in the whitehouse, but somehow are good with homophobic slurs against the man who currently occupies that very same house?

Keep it coming lefties. Keep losing election after election. I love it!

The liberal left don't know how to be funny, because in most cases they aren't trying to be funny they are campaigning.

I will give them that lady that lost all the weight... doing Sean Spicer, but that is even old now.
