They do this with certain college sports as well, hiring foreign coaches who recruit only foreign players in our state universities. That coach played 4-5 years on an American scholarship.

At the very least, if you are on an American scholarship, you should only be able to compete as an AMERICAN olympian, otherwise you dont get the scholly.

First, its one heck of a lot easier to get things done when you have a super majority in the upper house and a majority in the lower.

Second, do you honestly think McConnell, Thune and crew would treat DeSantis any differently than Trump. You think the msm would be warm and cuddly. You think lawfare would just disappear.

I know...... DeSantis would be more stately and they would suddenly treat him as if he was Obama.

I like DeSantis I think he would be a good president, but if we dont get voting fixed, he will be stuck in the same quagmire.

This. People have never seemed to realize that Tallahassee and DC are two different universes.

I really like DeSantis. I don't know if he would be better than Trump but honestly I'd be open to seeing at this point.

But it's a fact that DeSantis would not be able to do what he's done in Florida in DC. Murk, Mitch, Thune, Cornyn, Tillis, and the rest of the Democrats would still be there blocking any legislation he wanted to pass. That means DeSantis would be trying to get stuff done like Trump, mostly by executive orders. And the law fare machine from the left would be just as active in gumming up the works on that front.

DeSantis was known as not a popular or likable or charismatic guy when he was in Congress, so his influence on the Hill as President would be minimal. It is almost a certainty that Democrats, along with the usual Republicans and a lot of the rank and file, would be hostile to him.

Until we elect better Republicans, we are going to face what we have seen. A lot of better Republicans have been elected, replacing bad Republicans, but there's still a lot of work to be done in that area. And we really need term limits in Congress.

How was he going to end H1bs as president?

Lay it all out for us bubba.

Here, I'll get you started

quote:

Governor Ron DeSantis cannot unilaterally cancel or end the federal H-1B visa program, because immigration and work visas are regulated at the federal level. However, he has successfully restricted H-1B hiring within state-funded public universities in Florida

I would have voted for Desantis. I also wouldn't constantly lie and bitch about him if he'd won. But he's pro Israel so most of you guys would be hypocrites if you did vote for him.

And you would never admit that.

This is such odd behavior.

I never said he would be able to end H-1B if he were president.

So strange.

Well said. Honestly not excited about Byron Donald’s being Governor but the other candidates suck. Good thing Florida will be in great hands with the red legislature!

More than 600 H-1B visa holders were employed in Florida's public universities as of last fiscal year, according to federal data.
And the vast majority of them still are. They're just not hiring new ones.
